We'll be on the DXDDP and we have all of our "necessary" reservations set. I suspect we're different from most dining plan types as I set up my reservations so that out of twelve days, we're only "locked" into certain parks on three days (mainly because of reduced showings of Fantasmic and Spectromagic during the slow season.)

Since I don't know when our second day at DHS will be, I haven't made reservations for Sci Fi or 50's for lunch or dinner. What are the odds of being able to walk in to one of these places the first two weeks of January? I'd like to give at least one of them a shot.

Anything is possible, in June I got a last minute ressie at MM! Sci Fi was booked out but 50's PT had openings too....these were for lunch by the way.

If you go up to the table to check in and they say they are booked, call the dining line...we have always been able to get into something with the dining line.

I was there in August, and we actually had plans for the SciFi for lunch (and it was something I really wanted to do, because we cancelled it during the previous trip in 03). But due to certain circumstances, we didn't make it for our lunch reservation :( But we stopped by in the evening, and were brought to a table (it wasn't a car, but we still got in). So anything is possible.

In June we could not get into sci-fi but walked into Primetime with only a minimal wait. had fun hanging out in the retro living area.

I think that you chances will be good, especially in early January. I'd just try to go at off peak times.

We've walked in several times to both without any problems and at various times of the year

Last two times I tried to walk in at 50's we were turned away. I got my ADR for this trip...

We have walked in lots of times. Skip breakfast and do an 11:30 lunch.
The earlier your there the better.

I think that your odds are very high to get into either place. Especially with the time of year that you are going. I have been able to do walk-ins to both places at various times of the year , spur of the moment and have had very good luck. Have a super fun trip!

I am not a chancey person. I would figure something out and book it. I am to:scared1:
