How do we go about signing up for the tour?
Call (714) 781-4400 up to one month in advance.
Also, for those that have done it, did you enjoy it? What should we expect?
I just did the tour on Labor Day and had a great time! However, my tour was a little unique, so YMMV.
First of all, it was 100 degrees in the shade that day -- which had a major effect on the tour. In addition to myself, there was only one other couple in the tour group. (A few others had cancelled due to the heat.) But this turned into a real boon for the 3 of us, as our small group received a more "intimate" tour.
The heat also caused a change in the tour itinerary. We still went in the Tiki Room, but instead of doing the Jungle Cruise, the guide substituted POTC (since it is indoors and cool). We also got to go in our own boat in IASW (which I don't believe is a usual part of the itinerary either). To top everything off, at the end of the tour we rode in the Lilly Belle parlor car on the
Disneyland Railroad!
As for the content: Since I'm pretty up on my Walt/DL History, there wasn't a lot I didn't know. Still, I learned a few new facts and saw some things I hadn't noticed before. It definitely wasn't a tour for children, however, as I think they could be somewhat bored with the focus on Walt and the early history of Disneyland.
The whole tour was a very special experience, and I am very glad I did it.
