Hi all,
Silly question, but is there a way to walk from the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress to Downtown Disney without going out the main entrance, taking a right then another right onto Hotel Plaza Boulevard?

Is there a way to walk over (legally... not climbing fences and crossing woods and waterways!) by crossing into a neighboring hotel on Hotel Plaza Blvd?

As you can see from maps.google.com (on the satellite view from space) the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is very close to Hotel Plaze Boulevard hotels and Downtown Disney. To see it go to maps.google.com and lookup: "1 Grand Cypress Blvd Orlando, FL 32836-6734" (Hit satellite in the top left you can see the area from the air. - very neat!)

I ask in case we want to walk to Pleasure Island and enjoy a few drinks, then cab it "home." Or walk to the Downtown Disney for breakfast and shopping without going the long way around. We'll have a rental car, but I drive 2+ hours a day in traffic to work... to me a vacation is not for cars.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure that Hyatt will have shuttle

don't try to walk this - I am pretty certain that there are barrick on the Hyatt side to stop people who don't belong there.

this is a beautiful resort!!!!

You can walk along the main road. I guess it's I4. But, it would be a really LONG walk. At least it would be for us (we're not really what you might call athletic ;) )

You can walk it, but would have to go around to Apopka-Vineland Rd. and then through the Disney gate to DD. We stayed at the Doubletree Club, which is right around the corner from the Hyatt. It's a good 20-25 minute walk. We did it in June and it was about 95 degrees that day (a freakish turn in the weather). There probably is a shuttle provided by Hyatt.

Thanks all! In my younger days I stayed at the Days Inn right across Apopka Vineland (Overlooing I-4 and Goodings) and we walked to the Shopping Village and Pleasure Island each day (the Days had one of those horrible shuttles that travels 3x a day and is always crowded beyond safe capacity) so we found it easier to walk to Downtown Disney and Disney bus from there.

I'm sure the Grand Cypress has a better shuttle service than that, but I thought I would ask.

My wife and I are in pretty good shape and walk about 2-3 miles a day for exercise.

By the way - we haven't booked yet.... we've heard it is one of the possibilities in the "Resort" category on Priceline and are looking to make sure that the hotels in that category would be worth our bid.

We have stayed twice at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress/Orlando recently within the past several months. I would never attempt to walk from the resort to DTD. Even if there is normally a safe way to do this (which I doubt), right now there *isn't*. There is a huge amount of on-going road construction on SR 535(where you turn to get to the Hyatt) as well as on the road (Apopka-Vineland? can't quite remember...) just outside of the Hyatt entrance. Get a cab, or maybe see if the Hyatt shuttles go to DTD.

We love this Hyatt, if we stay offsite this resort would be my first choice.
agnes!

Wow, that construction is STILL going on?!! I stayed at Doubletree in June of 2003 and they had just started on Apopka-Vineland. Guess they are doing some major work!!

I'm not sure *what* the exact name of that road is, but it's the one that the Hyatt entrance is on. (And yes, there is still construction out on 535, at the previous intersection...)

agnes!
