Walk from Dolphin to Yacht Club

Family and I are staying at Dolphin this week. We are headed to MK before our DCL this Saturday. I understand that transportation from Dolphin just drops you off at the TTC for MK. Has anyone just walked over to Yacht Club from Dolphin and taken Disney Buses to MK? If so, what is the easiest walk there...I'm assuming through the back where the boardwalk is. But we have never stayed at Dolphin before so trying to avoid walking around in circles LOL.

In theory, you could walk over. The shortest route is to come out of the Dolphin lobby take an immediate left and walk the path around the exterior of the Dolphin. That said, I'd imagine guests at the Yacht Club will not be thrilled to be paying what they're paying and "share" transportation. A Minnie Van or a ride share are other options.

Appreciate the insight. Not sure we will be doing this, but wanted to see if it was an option. Thank you

You do not want to head toward the BW to get to the YC bus stop. That would be a much longer walk. In fact, it would be easier to catch the BW bus if you go in that direction.

I suggest you look at the Google maps aerial view of the Epcot resorts around Crescent Lake to gain some advanced understanding of the local geography. The most direct route from the Dolphin to the Yacht Club follows the edge of the lake to the left as you leave the back door of the Dolphin (north and east on the map). You will then walk through the lobby of the YC to get to the bus stop for the park buses.

Thank you! I have been Google mapping that too just to see if there was an exit out of Dolphin on the (north wing...I believe) without walking all around. Your advice is helpful!

From the Dolphin you really need to come out the entrance that leads to the boat dock. There is no "short cut" between the Dolphin and the YC. You'll walk towards the Swan and take a left up over the bridge towards the YC.

It wouldn’t be offensive to guests…people who aren’t guests go to YC/BC for character meals etc so it’s not like it’s YC only transportation. That goes for all the hotels…it’s Disney transportation not a particular hotel’s transportation

And you won’t “offend” any YC guests.
Actually the use of the Disney bus system is open to all, even covers in their own Help Center.
Q. I’m not staying at a Disney Resort hotel. Can I use the monorails, buses and boats to get around Walt Disney World Resort?

There were some issues at YC/BC a year or so ago, but those were guests exiting out of Epcot and getting on the buses in large numbers. Though that seems to have been a short term issue. I don't think you see enough S/D users using either YC/BC or BW to cause issue.

@KC Fan do check out the Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE RESORTS Information & Questions thread - lot of good current info and regular group of people keep it updated.

Please don’t think you’ll offend YC guests, people have dining reservations and visit resorts all the time. If you want to take a nice short walk to yacht, do it!

Although that routing will work, I can assure the OP that walking along the sidewalks immediately adjacent to the Dolphin allows you to get to the YC a bit quicker than going over the bridge. I stay at BWV, and my morning walk starts from the BW along the waterway toward the Studios, up to the bridge over Buena Vista Drive, across the bridge, down to the walk on the Swan side of the waterway, around the Swan to the walkway up to the Dolphin, then around the (east) side of the Dolphin to the YC, BC, and the eastern bridge over the waterway nearest Epcot back to the BW. Makes for a pleasant morning walk, so long as I start early enough in really hot weather.

Comparing guests that go to the resort for dining or seeing the resort is different than what OP is suggesting.
Swan and Dolphin decided to no longer use Disney transportation and now provide their own.

While people who aren’t staying at YC or BW do use Disney buses for dining etc, that’s not usually from the resort in early morning. We all know the buses can be very crowded at opening & closing. So I understand what @2excited2sleep meant.

We’ve been staying at YC for about 25 years. We’ve also stayed at Dolphin & at monorail resorts. Personally, I don’t see a big advantage to walking from Swan or Dolphin to YC or BW. It’s 5-10 minute walk to the bus stop & then the wait for a bus. Or you wait for a bus at Dolphin & then take a 5-10 minute monorail ride. I’ve waited up to 30 minutes for a bus at YC. You might get there sooner than if you took the S/D bus & monorail. Or it might take you longer. It’s totally random if you’ll get lucky & a bus will show up right away or if you’ll wait longer than normal.

The word offend was in quotes because I was referring to a previous post from someone else. But the bus is the only form of transportation directly from the YC to the MK that is provided by Disney at no additional charge.

We don't know if the decision to terminate WDW bus service at S D R was Disney's or S D R.

It was the S&D. It was a last minute decision by them. Disney buses will go into the S&D on Skyliner recovery though.
