Ive been thinking about how to say this for a few days now.

My mom told me while we were on vacation something I didnt know.

My dad had his first heart attack at 34. :( *I* am 34. I was born when he was 33 so obviously I dont remember any of it. I had no idea he was that young.

So Ive been looking at my lifestyle lately. Am I healthy? Am I stressed? Do I get enough exercise?

I havent been happy with the answers Im getting to those questions.

I know that I dont have as many risk factors as my dad had. I know that my chances of having a heart attack are fairly slim actually.
Its just something about that news that really hit home with me. It really made me think about my life and what Im doing. I need to make some serious changes.

Have you ever had a wake up call like that?

My DH is Type A and work-a-holic! In planning one of our trips to Orlando, DH just was not into going. He did not want to leave his work and did not want to leave the cattle......I don't get him sometimes.

We went to Universal and he had an "incident" early in the trip. We were right on the property and had just had lunch when he told me he thought he was having a heart attack. We tried to calmly make our way over to the first aid office and the kids did not know what was going on.

They called an ambulance and had him taken to the hospital. He spent 3 days of our trip in the hospital having tests done. They told him his heart was fine and he had never had an 'incident' before. He had more checking done when we got home and the dr told him he had a strong heart.

The only thing I could figure was that he had stressed him self so much because we were taking a vacation instead of him being chained to his desk, like he wanted. He's a very stubborn guy....but, that was ridiculous. You've GOT to stop and smell the roses along the way!!

Now, he has to go in a couple of times a year to have his heart checked even though it was not a heart attack. Life's too short.....enjoy life from day to day!
