Waitlisting a full week

Hi there!! I am new to this and am gung ho planning our visit for November 16-23! Right at the 7 month mark, I moved our reservation to AKL Kidani, but the system was down in the AM and when I called in the DVC member services right at 9am, the room I wanted was gone. I booked a 1 bedroom Savannah, but ideally want a 2 bedroom Standard (it's in my points range and I have 2 kiddos). I waitlisted the 2 bedroom immediately and the Cast Member said she has seen them come through all the time, but I am curious:
Has anyone waitlisted a full week and had it come through, even if just the week before the trip?

Stalk the website and see what nights you can pick up by yourself. Then it will be easier to pick up single nights via the waitlist. A whole week will be hard.

I just today realized I had been stalking the website wrong! I kept going in to Modify reservation and only finding one day, but today I went in as if to do a new reservation and found 3 days in the middle of the week are open! So I guess now my question is, if I book those 3 days while still keeping my original 1BR as a backup, what happens if I can't pick up the extra days and I have to cancel? My banking period ends in October, will they automatically bank the points from those 3 days then? I would just keep my 1BR since I know those are the dates I want to go and would rather have 1BR than none.

Keep your fingers crossed, I have had very good luck using the waitlist process. I hope you will be also.

Also, should you need to cancel those nights, you would need to cancel them at least 31 days before the trip so they wouldn't go into holding. So you would need to bank them before Oct 15. If you wait until the end of October, you would need to use those points before the end of your UY or they would expire as Holding Points.

Thank you! I have read many, many posts and discussions about people waitlisting a day or two here and there, but never the whole week. We will see! At least we have a room we will be fine in if it doesn't come through!

Thank you! That would be a lot of points to run the risk of wasting, I think I'm just going to let it ride. Thank you for taking the time to explain!
