Does anyone know how quickly MS processes cancellations to waitlist candidates? I have been waitlisted for months at OKW (4 nights 1bdr) and I am now at the 28 day mark. I thought for sure once the 30 day cancellation deadline hit, stuff would be canceled all over the place and something would open up at OKW. If someone canceled 3 days ago on day 31 and assuming I was next in line, how fast would the ressie show up in my account?

My waitlist came thru today - at 28 days. I was thinking it wouldnt happen. It was only 1 day though. I think 4 days is probably not likely, but hope you get some pixie dust!!

Have you been checking availability yourself? The wait lists run once a day, so if someone sees those days/villas available, they can grab them before the list gets run.

No one knows for sure, but from what I have read from people who seem to have a better idea, the computer matches, and then a CM makes the change the next day or within a few days.

I would give MS a call to see if it shows a waitlist match that has just not been entered.

Good luck!

Are you sure about that? I thought the availability had to clear all the waitlists before showing availability in the system.

That was how it worked before they rolled out the online system, but now they do it the other way around. A room is not released to inventory until it checks the waitlists and there is no one waiting.

Except there have been countless reports of people pouncing on the days they needed before their wait list got fulfilled. Feel free to hope the wait list works, but if I was waiting, I'd be looking.

There is a long thread on the Member Services board about wait lists and some disagreement about how they work.

I did a wait list for our January trip and had it about two weeks after I put the wait list in.

I agree with this... When a room popped available for bc on a frid in July 2 months out.... You would not be able to sell me on no one wait listed it.

Just canceled my waitlist at VGC for 2 bedroom Dec.22nd-27th and took a sure thing by getting a premium view at the DL Hotel. I knew with so few rooms I had but 2 chances, slim and none! They need more rooms at Disneyland! At least we'll be there and had a lot of points to play with. I actually added another day!

OK, well, I have to join the group of folks who have seen their waitlist dates pop up online without the waitlist being filled. Obviously, I went ahead and booked the dates so now I have all my days at Old Key West. But I called member services and asked to speak with a manager to let them know that not only did this happen to me, according to disboards, it is apparently happening all over the place.

I am glad you got what you needed!:thumbsup2

FWIW - in the last two months I was able to snag via the website two multi-day reservations that I had waitlisted (the exact same days, room categories, etc). I actually canceled my waitlist after I booked them online.

and once again the best way it to call! I had my wait list get cancelled altogether because another one came up /. it was not our first choice, so I called, and they bumped me up to next on the list because it was their mistake so we got all our days at Boardwalk!
over and over we see on here and hear in line for rides ( LOL) how unimpressed everyone is with the Disney website , all aspects... I call, besides, that's a job you've saved is the way I look at it.

I've had the same experience! Glad you got your days!

Me too...and I think its really no different than it always has been, except prior to online booking, the only ones seeing that a room available were the CM's.

Now, most of us who have waitlists in place, search the system regularly so are able to get the rooms before it runs against the wait list requests.
