Waitlist Points Question

We have a preferred view studio booked at BWV and we are waitlisted for a standard or boardwalk view. MS told me to waitlist the standard view until the 31 day mark and not to continue after that. The reason was that if my standard view waitlist came through after the 30 day mark, the point savings would be put into a holding account (standard view uses less points). Can anyone confirm if this is how it works?

Yes, this is correct. If your wait list comes through, you're technically not altering your original reservation, you're cancelling the original and booking a new one. Since you'd be cancelling 30 days or less from check-in, your points would go into holding. You'd be able to use most of those in-holding points for the re-booked room. But the points that are left over would still be in holding.

I was very happy that a CM explained that to me when we first bought into DVC and I was making a reservation. Of course, the preferred studio didn't really have a preferred view, but I would have felt bad losing the points!

Thanks for the reply. At first I thought my points should just be returned but as explained it makes sense why they are put into holding.
