I had studio reserved at VGF for 5 days in Lake View.
At the time of booking I requested to be placed on waitlist for standard view.
I decided to camel the waitlist the other day.
Sow I locked on to cancel.
To my surprise apparently the waitlist came through.
My question is does DVC normaly noticed the member that the waitlist had come in and the reservation has been changed?

I did not receive anything and would have assumed I was getting Lake view.
I am fine with the standard and the issue is not that we are no longer in Lake view as that was my original plan.
Just think they should send something to advise.

If I had waitlisted at a different resort this could have been a problem.

You are supposed to receive an email. I did when my wait list came in a week ago. That said, many on the boards report that they have not received these emails.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I usually get an email but it doesn't explicitly say your waitlist was fulfilled, it's just the generic "we can't wait to welcome you home" email and if you scroll down and read the details you'll realize the room type changed.

Just an FYI, the points you saved will go in to holding if the wait list came in less than 30 days prior to arrival.

That's probably why you have a couple of choices when you do a waitlist. You can waitlist all the way up to 7 days and that could put saved points into holding status. It's probably a good idea to choose 31 days if you are in that situation.

On kind of the same subject, anyone have experience with waitlisting Poly 6 1/2 months out? The 6 nights we want in August for my daughter's birthday is only available for first 4 consecutive nights, so we'd have to waitlist all 6 nights. I didn't think standard view would be an issue... It was just available yesterday!

Book what you can and wait list the missing days.

You definitely want to book the 4 nights and just waitlist the 2 additional nights you need. It will be much easier to match than 6 full nights. Since it just booked up I'd say you'll have a very decent chance of getting the waitlist filled for the 2 nights.
