Waitlist/Borrowing Points

I was curious how wait list works if there aren't enough use year points available. My final points for this use year are used on a reservation I have booked near the end of my use year. I will shortly be in the 30 day window of that arrival. I'd like to wait list (slim as a chance as it is) to change from a studio to a one bedroom. That would cost more points which are not available in this use year.

Can a wait list be setup to automatically borrow points from next use year if it becomes available? I know I could go ahead and borrow the points ahead of time but, because of my particular use year, they would expire unused if the one bedroom never materialized. I don't want to bother at that risk of losing the extra points.



My first year as a DVC member am I'm realizing what a difficulty last minutes changes can be. I'm a good planner but DVC is making me have to improve on that. That darn banking deadline comes way too soon!

Yes, wait lists can be set to borrow points if more are needed to confirm the reservation. You can't just call MS and borrow points. They can only be borrowed when making a reservation and you are short points.

I have that situation right now. I am waitlisting for my last night in a Grand Villa. I will be 2 points short in this use year, so I asked member services to borrow them from next year. I am anxious to see what happens if the waitlist comes through since I do have BWV points still available in this use year, but I do not want to use those.
