Waiting past ADR time to be seated during race weekends

We will be going to Disney for Marathon weekend next month. On the Saturday of our trip, we have a 12:20 ADR for Via Napoli--the marathon is the following day so I figured this would be a good place to "carbo-load."

I've done other Disney races before, but usually had my "carbo load" meal later in the day, like around 2 or 3 pm (and usually at Mama Melrose in HS.) Most of those times, the restaurant was running behind and we had to wait at least half an hour after our ADR time to be seated.


I'm hoping that because my Via Napoli reservation is eariler, less than 1 hour from when they open for the day, there is less chance of having to wait beyond the ADR time.

Any thoughts? I"m wondering if with a 12:20 ADR time, we might be the first people seated at that table that day? Or do they completely fill a restaurant right at 11:30 opening time?

The reality is most ADRs will seat you 10-15 minutes after your time, sometimes even during the "first seating" because they have 10 groups come in at once and have one host.

It isn't that it's race weekend. It is that it is Disney. This happens even in the mythical less existent low season, even.

This. Plus an ADR does not mean "You will be seated at this time" - it's more like call-ahead seating. It made more sense when they were called "Priority Seating", but the principle remains the same...it's a place holder and when you check in you'll go into the queue for seating which should be based upon your ADR time.
