i called my guide today to be put on the waiting list for an add on at my home resort and was told that they are no longer taking names. she said that they have no more points. just wondering if she was correct!

I cannot confirm if she is correct. I can only tell you that my guide told me no such list existed and suggested I buy Vero. While he was away I called and got a different guide who did put me on the list. I have no idea if anything will come through, but since I want BWV I will wait and see what happens. If I cannot get BWV through Disney I will decide if I want to go resale or wait and pay the 82 plus that they will probably be getting to BCV.

First of all, welcome to the boards!

I'm wondering which resort is your home resort? If it is OKW or BWV, then she is technically right in saying that there are no more points available. Otherwise those resorts would not be listed as "sold out." However, that's not to say that there will never again be points available. I'm still learning how a lot of things work with DVC myself. But I just went through all of this with my own guide (who is WONDERFUL) recently. If I understand correctly, wh en a person lists a resale, Disney has the right of first refusal. They can buy back the membership and turn around and resell the points to people like you or me who would like to wait for them. This could still happen in the future, so I would think that being on a waiting list should still be a possibility for you.

On March 8, I put my name on the waiting list for 50 add-on points at BWV. My guide called me back less than 2 weeks later to say that the points had become available. I have also read on these boards about other people who have called since then and gotten their names added to the waiting lists. But other people like yourself have been denied that opportunity by their guides. Seems pretty unfair, doesn't it?

Do you think it might be a good idea to call back and ask to speak to a supervisor of guides? Be aware that there may be different lengths of waiting list depending on what month your use year is. My use year is December, and I was lucky that there was only one person ahead of me on that waiting list.

One more idea that I've previously mentioned on a post: If you do get your name on a waiting list, consider giving the guide or supervisor your credit card number. I did that, and I authorized my guide to immediately charg e the points to my account if they became available. I didn't want to risk being out of town or playing phone tag if the points became available. It worked out well since I hadn't planned to finance the points anyway. My guide was grateful for the chance to avoid phone tag by having my credit card number, and he did grab the points for me as soon as they came up.

Long answer to your question, but I hope it helps a little! Good luck! :)

After travelbug's success, I called for an add on at BW. Guide put me on the list but wasn't too hopeful- I think travelbug was lucky - probably a contract that didn't go through before they sold out. Well it doesn't hurt to try!

I too have put my name on a waiting list in the last couple of weeks for a small Boardwalk add-on.

When I first called my guide he told me no such list was available.

And after reading these boards I had learned that some people were successful in recently adding-on, so I called the next day and talked to a different guide.
And now my NEW guide has put me on a waiting list. He was not sure if anything would ever come through for me but he said that nothing is impossible, and you never know what could happen.
