Waiting for the home health nurse to come and check my coumadin levels! It's her last visit today- yea me! I can't wait to get off this medication so I can stop worrying about every bump and bruise, so I can SHAVE MY LEGS- or so somebody can, I'm still not allowed to bend. I can't wait to get my life back!!

How long do you have to be on it?

I was on it for a year after a blood clot went to my lungs.

I hated that monthly blood draw!

I never stopped shaving my legs though. I was just super careful, and if I did happen to knick a spot it didn't bleed all that much, really.

My Mom has been on it for years, and will be for the rest of her life. She sometimes has 2-3 blood draws per month as it's always off. I usually didn't have too much trouble with my levels thankfully.

I'll be off it on Thursday. They put the ever loving fear of God into me about bleeding.... I wont' even look at a razor. LOL I had surgery in December so I have been on it for a month!

A blood draw for this isn't necessary, just a fingerstick with a little hand held monitor. I'm a home health nurse. :) Congrats on being finished with your coumadin...not a fun drug to be on.

That's what I had- a finger stick. One nurse stuck and pulled though- just once, I told her NOT to do it again. She said the bigger hole made it easier to get blood- I told her I didn't care. LOL
