An FYI for everyone waiting for SW to drop it's prices. I bought my rt IND-MCO for $151.40 back in Nov. Same exact flights are still available today for $434.40. I know there are exceptions, but history is now dictating that if you see a good price on the flights you want, buy it. It probably won't get any cheaper.

I second this:thumbsup2 We decided Wednesday on our dates and bought air on Thursday/yesterday. Prices were close to what we paid in Aug 2011. SW Aus to Mco.:cool1:

I am so sad about this but your are so right!

I miss the days when SW would release them and then in 2 or 3 days they would drop the price $20 or $30! Oh well, nothing lasts forever and the days of inexpensive airfare sure are over!

I bought tickets on Dec 3rd for our Feb IND/MCO trip for $99 each way. A week later they dropped to $91 each way. I don't suppose they'll go any lower, but you can bet I'll still check daily just in case. :thumbsup2

We did the samething. Hopeing that the price would drop but it just continue to go up so we purchased tickets from Delta. Delta was much cheaper with the baggage fees as well.

We are flying AUS to MCO also! it is a four hour drive for us, but given that they had the best prices vs. DFW (2 hrs away from us) and Hobby (4 hrs away from us), we decided it was worth driving a little further. We too paid about the same as we did for our 2009 vacation, which we flew on Continental.

I was up in the wee hours of the morning when our flights for May were released in early October. They were $153 one way. On Wednesday night, they dropped to $99 one way. Of course, I snatched them up and must've gotten the last seats at the price for our flight, because when I refreshed, that flight was back to $153. Other flights are still at $99.

So glad I waited to book!

Tickets for our May trip on SW were down $50.00 each way this morning. (Denver to Orlando)

Our flights actually went up $30pp on the flight down and are staying the same on our return. I booked them as soon as our dates were released and I am sooo glad I did. Still check a few times a week just in case. I expect them to go nothing but up from here...at least at our airport (PIT). But if I happen to catch a sale I will gladly take the credit. Good luck everyone!!!

Exact same thing for us--I'm glad I waited and just got them at the lower fare instead of having to deal with having credits. Also flying Denver to Orlando in late May.

We have a trip to LA from Denver in March, and most of those fares just dropped $50, as well. Not the flight we are on--we'd have to switch to a flight with a plane change (and so therefore would take much more time), so not worth it for us. But they do still go down occasionally!

I just wish our return fights would go a bit lower than they currently are!

We just decided on our dates for early June and always fly SW. Just looking at the airfares, they seem higher than years past. The flight out is good, but the return is 100.00 more pp and with 5 people it adds up! Anyway, those from Denver have said it went down yesterday. I wonder if it is still down and we should book, or wait for it to possibly go down again? :confused3

The rate that I had been seeing for the DEN to MCO leg were at $184 for the longest time and the "down" rate that I got was $134. So hopefully those numbers help you know where things have been. The trip back home from MCO to DEN has been sitting at $230-$270 for the flight we are looking at (we fly nonstop only and in the evening) and so I haven't booked that flight yet. Frontier is cheaper (even the mid rate where you get the TV and the checked bags included) and they guarantee seats, so we will probably fly them back home. I prefer Frontier because I like to know that I will get to sit with my kids and so this doesn't bother me. To be honest, United is cheaper than SW coming back home, as well, but I try to avoid United if I can--just not my favorite. This will be our first time flying SW and I'm not excited about it because I hate not knowing if my kids will end up by themselves, but I will check in at the 24 hour mark and hope for the best. I'm definitely not risking it for a more expensive flight home, though. :)

Hope that helps!

I booked my web only flight down to MCO from MHT when Southwest first released the fares for that part of April, cost was $130 non-stop :woohoo: Web only flight home was $280 non-stop for the longest time but today it was $184 so I jumped on it fast :yay: I will continue to monitor for lower fares and change it if need be :dance3:

I have been trying to book airfare from MHT to MCO since they opened April dates but I have not seen anything less than $280 and most flights were showing unavailable. I am going school vacation week so I was very concerned prices were not going to come down but I checked last week and the flight down to MCO was $134 non stop so of course I booked it. Today I checked and the flight home was also $134 non stop. Can I just tell you have happy I am that I did not give up hope! :cool1:

I noticed last night the prices from Islip to MCO dropped and are now 89 each way for most of the summer

Here's another story of how my flights status cahnged from "unavaibale" to available but expensive to available and CHEAP! I booked us on connecting flights for 99 from bdl to mco and the return when they went on sale and hoped my preferred times would come avaiable or go down and they did, over the past two weeks I rebooked both for better times and non-stops for just a bit more.

Our outgoing I rebooked at like 3 in the morning! Check regularly..often. a lot and you may be rewarded like i was for seriously checking about 3 times a day! :goodvibes
