Wait time for SDD just before park close

Does anyone know if the line for SDD is really long just before the park closes? Debating trying to hop in line 10-15 mins before park closing or rope drop it on our 2nd HS day.

I find end of day waits are better. The posted wait time will be greater than your actual wait time. Fighting the rope drop crowds is too stressful for me.

When I was there last month it was maybe 15 minutes, sign said 20 but it was definitely less than that, I rode it right after the fireworks started going off. I've done it at park close several times and it's always under 30 minutes every time, of course during more crowded times the waits may be longer because obviously more people are in the park, but it's always my go to strategy because I find RD SDD to not be much help in the waiting department.

We did that in October. Got in line about 5 minutes before close. Posted time was 45 minutes. We waited about 15.
SDD is also much better at night with the lighting.

In July we got in line about 10 minutes before close and it said 45 minute wait. I think we waited 25. My husband and son got in line even closer to close and waited probably 15.

Wait time does drop near park closing as crowds go to Fantasmic and Star Wars Fireworks. It will depend on the time of year and crowd level as to how long. This year has been different than past years. In January I think the standby was between 30 and 45 minutes based on where the line was in the que. Its better than RD for sure unless you get in front of the crowd.

Definitely go at end of evening. Rope Drop has all those people trying to get boarding group so they are basically going to MF or SDD after the boarding passes are gone in a few minutes.

We did it over Marathon weekend this past January and think we waited 10-15 minutes tops.
