I will be going to Universal in January on a weekday. I will be doing a 1 day park hopper with express pass. I will not be staying at a Universal hotel and both parks that day have early park admission (1 hour before).

Which Harry Potter ride would have the shortest wait time if I go into the park right when it opens (forbidden journey or gringotts)? Right after the ride, I plan to hop on the train and go to the other harry potter ride at the other park.

Thanks!

We were just there I would definitely start with Gringotts. Rode that as a family. Forbidden Journey can be riden as a single rider if it's busy . That's what we did because you cannot see who's next to you on that ride no matter what and even if you go to single rider your party is going to be very close to you anyhow . Forbidden journey can cause motion sickness so I would recommend that second anyways ..
Also we stayed onsite, wasn't necessary...
Have fun!

I like the idea of doing Gringotts at ropedrop. Even though you are not doing EE, the queue is very cool and a little wait is not that bad when there is so much to look at. We always wait until the late afternoon or evening to ride FJ. It seems to empty out nicely nowadays. No need to rush over there. You can stay in Diagon Alley longer and enjoy all it has to offer.

I personally suggest hitting Gringott's first, as it's usually the one that gets higher wait times it seems quicker than FJ. So, it's best to hit it first thing.

Also, Gringott's often closes it's single rider line due to a lot of people liking to utilize it due to the fact that typically waiting in the single rider line is a shorter wait, but when more people use it, it makes it too long of a line and making the wait far longer than even the actual wait time depending how many people are in it. So, they close it when the line gets too long, that doesn't typically happen at FJ now.

That being said, I wouldn't worry about rushing over to the other side, as Diagon Alley has far more to offer and explore than Hogsmeade. The only reason to rush would be if you're worried about the line for the HE to get too long, but if you're going during January on a weekday you shouldn't worry about the line of HE getting too long. Take your time.

Idk about January but in August when we go, neither one had a long wait. Best time to go lol
Altho FJ broke down and the wait got really long. Anyways Gringotts is the better ride IMO so start there ;)
