Wait List Error

Brand new member. Just received my membership number today and am trying to book a studio for 9/22/16-9/25/16. Of course only the middle night (9/23-9/24) was available, and only at one resort. So I waitlisted the first and last night separately. I also wanted to try a waitlist another resort for all 3 nights, to increase my chances. However, every time I try to waitlist, it gives me an error because I already have 2 waitlists booked......except I don't. I have one waitlist for 9/22-9/23 and one for 9/24-25. I've tried waitlisting 9/22-9/25 and I've also tried waitlisting each night individually. I keep getting the same error. Is this a glitch, or am I just not understanding how waitlists work?

If I understand your post correctly, you do have two wait lists already: one for the night of 9/22 and another for the night of 9/24. Even though they are for the same resort and room type, they are in fact separate wait lists.

The limit of 2 active wait lists per UY is especially limiting if you are setting up a wait list at a resort with many booking categories. For example, let's say you want to set up a wait list for a BWV studio and will accept a room in any booking category, Standard View, Boardwalk View or Pool/Garden View. With a limit of 2 active wait lists (and assuming you did not have any others in place during the UY in question) your wait lists would be limited to only two of the three possible view categories.

Ah, OK. Everything I had read made it sound like you can book 2 waitlists per night, so that's why was confused.

If you wait listed a studio for the same night but 2 different booking categories, that would could as your 2 wait lists.

DVC changed the waitlist rules a few years ago, limiting to only 2 active per UY. Each separate date, resort, room size, or booking category counts as a waitlist.

Each time, the day was just sitting there, glowing that lovely "available blue" (that's my official name for that shade -- it'll catch on), while the corresponding waitlist just sat there twiddling it's thumbs. When I saw it, I booked the day, then cancelled the corresponding waitlist.

Exactly. I guess it works out well for me since I like to obsessively stalk the web site. It gives me a chance to snatch it up before anyone's waitlist has a chance. It's like a fast pass for the waitlist.

Yes, it was due to stalking missing BWV days that I stumbled across 3 open nights @ the VGF for last Dec. (I pieced it together over the course of a couple of months as each individual consecutive night showed up) - I felt like I'd won the lottery
