Anyone else tired of the snow? It seems so romantic until it happens! I finally got mail and a paper today, but my garbage is still sitting where it was supposed to be picked up on Monday morning.

I got out yesterday morning to go to work (school), but when I tried in the afternoon I couldn't get out. I called dh at work and had him park a few blocks away - outside of our neighborhood. The main roads are pretty clear. I was relieved school was cancelled today. A UPS truck got stuck last night on our road. The tow truck they called got stuck as well. Another tow truck came and they worked until 1 in the morning to get them out.

My son and another neighborhood teen are up shoveling whatever sand and salt the neighbors were able to gather - hoping to make it passable. If we don't get the extra snow they're talking about this afternoon, we'll probably need to get out tomorrow. Several inches of ice make it pretty hard to get up that hill! I think we'll try this afternoon and park the car out of the neighborhood.

So far this week - Sunday, missed church, Monday, no school, Tuesday, two hours late, Wednesday, no school. Sunday and Monday were a blast - now the ice getting old. Ergh! Anyone else have stories?

I haven't left my house since Sunday. Last night it was looking really sketchy since DD is in the middle of an asthma attack and the meds we had here weren't cutting it.

I found a stash of meds though and managed to get her out of critical status. It was looking like we were going to have to call 911 for awhile there. This morning she's bouncing off the walls like nothing was ever wrong, her little sister is starting to wheeze now though. :worried:

Our street isn't too bad today, we'll see if the snow comes today, if it does I fully expect to go insane by the end of the day.

Just what is happening at work.

People who left later on Monday reported not getting home till Tuesday morning due to the weather and blocked roads.

On Tuesday morning my company had to shut down because very few people showed up for work.

Today there are just enough people to run things, but still a large number of people out.

As they were saying on ESPN Radio on Tuesday morning (talking about the Seahwks winning on MNF) the problem is the lack of support by the road crews and people not knowing how to drive in the snow. A simple inch of snow creates a big problem and it makes people from the midwest laugh their butts off.

Lastly, I'm really loving the fact that we bought a Subaru Outback. It's a snowmobile with a roof and heated seats. :woohoo:

You guys could sent just a little down here. We only had enough to cover the ground the other night and it was mostly melted before we woke up. My DD's were quite upset. They wanted enough snow to cancel school at least for one day and that didn't happen. Hope everyone is able to get around now. Being stuck in the house would drive me crazy! At least I would have the DIS :thumbsup2

Well, my son reported that they had enough sand and salt to do the entire hill and several people got out. I hear it's snowing in Port Angeles already - not that far away - so I may go move my car out of the neighborhood so I can make it to school tomorrow.

We've lived in this neighborhood for 9 years and this is the first time we've gotten stuck. I'm glad dh was gone when it iced over so we had at least one vehicle out.

Speaking of asthma - I usually only have problems when I have a cold, etc. but I'm using all my inhalers and fighting off an episode. Now I'm wearing a scarf over my face when I'm outside and that seems to be helping. This cold air is a killer!

I took 6 hours to get home from work on Monday night on 405. He actually got off the 160th exit and took the back roads in his tiny corolla with summer tires. I'm shocked he made it.

I went out and got some groceries on Monday afternoon and I barely made it home. We have not left the house since. I could not get out of my driveway if I tried!

I had to drive home from work at 10:30pm Monday night. Luckily my drive only normally takes about 15 minutes, it took me about 40 minutes Monday. I have to go uphill to get home. It was already icy then. DH went in for about 3 1/2 hours yesterday in the afternoon, couldn't get out till then. He went in on time today. I chose not to go in yesterday or today, just because of the icy conditions. The girls played outside 3-4 hours yesterday. No school yesterday or today. They loved it!
I'm amazed at the number of people driving down our street, even with the road closed signs. :confused3 Passed our house the road starts curving down through the trees into the Kent Valley. There are houses and other streets down part of the hill, but there are also other ways to get into them.

I live in Whatcom County up by the border. Schools have been closed all week and roads in my rural part of the county have been closed to anybody without chains. So we've been stuck since I think Sunday. It's finally clearing a little but last I read another storm is coming in tonight.

I'm jelous. We hardly got any. I have no idea why. Our streets are clear, but we went to go to the grocery store yesterday (3 miles away) and barely made it!

It was snowing hard when I was coming home from Issaquah but nothing at our house in Sammamish. So I went to the gym in Redmond and all the classes were canceled. In the 20 minutes I was in the gym the parking lot had started icing over.

Very, very Strange.

It's been frustrating having no school but no snow either! We finally got out today. We had scheduled the carpets to be cleaned since both kids would be in school. So I took them out to lunch and to see Happy Feet.

SEND IT OUR WAY!!!! Not a flake in sight here  . You can keep the ice though, that stuff is nasty even for us seasoned winter drivers.

Our miniature schnauzer loves the snow too. It cracks me up - I keep seeing the warnings on the news to keep your dogs inside and she's at the door begging to go out again!

Why are you supposed to keep your dogs in?

The wind chill in parts of our state have been well below zero. I assume that is why! My cat is an outdoor cat and hates being indoors but I've made him come in at night the last few nights. We have had some really, really cold nights!

I have three UPS packages that are apparently "out for delivery" (according to the UPS web site) but I'm NOT holding my breath LOL. I'll be very suprised if they make it here tonight.

I do need to drive into the city tomorrow, a friend is in town for a conference and we're having dinner. I'm trying to figure out just how bad that drive will be and how long I should allow. I'm thinking the drive is about 30 minutes usually...um, I might give myself 2 hours!

Has anyone lost power? We did on Sunday for about 9 hours (6 pm-3am). We went and hung out at Cosi and Target because it was SO cold in the house. Luckily we have loads of down blankets and a gas fireplace!

Woodinville?? How bad is it out there? I haven't left the valley, I'm afraid I'll never make it back down Novelty Hill or Woodinville-Duvall.

Bothell. We did get about 10 inches or so, but the plows have been out so it's really not too bad. Woodinville seems to be ok, we've been over there a couple times in the last few days.

Yesterday our streets were pretty well iced over, and one with a bit of an incline had been blocked off for the kids to sled down. :)

Today patches of our street were bare, but most of it very icy, so I didn't venture out. DH went into Seattle for work this morning, and the half hour drive took an hour, and another hour on the way home (at 2pm.) Not too bad considering rush-hour times were 5 hours or more on Tuesday.

Now the big snowstorm previously predicted sounds like it will be mostly rain, so will just see how icy it is in the morning. I seriously need to get out of the house!
