DH and I have narrowed our choices down to a studio at VWL or BWV for our Thanksgiving trip. We have toured both properties and I am drawn to both. I love Epcot and DH loves a quiet atmosphere.

We are in our mid-30's with no kids. We will have our own car and perhaps annual passes. Whatcha'll think?

Go with the BWV if you are interested in an EPCOT/MGM trip. Go with the VWL if you are interested in a MK trip. We own at both resorts but the BWV is our true love. Unless you get a Boardwalk view room, the resort is very quiet. The vast majority of the rooms face toward the canal and the pools and you would never know about all of the activity on the other side of the resort.

A big plus for the BWV is that during a busy time like Thanksgiving (we just went for Thanksgiving in 2004), it is nice to be able to walk back to your resort in the evening instead of taking a bus or boat.

You won't go wrong no matter what you choose.

DH &I are also in our early 30s, with no kids and we love the ambience of WL--especially at nigit's romantic and serene.

We love VWL, find the whole boardwalk to busy for us...... However, everyone I know personally owns at BWV and they love it! Your responses will likely be split down the middle.

I think both resorts are very romantic. And the Christmas decorations will be up that weekend, so all of WDW will be looking great!

I think, based on your info, that I'd go with BWV. You stated that you love EPCOT, and you can't beat BWV or BCV for convenience to that park.

And as HBC said, BWV is actually a very quiet resort unless you ask for a Boardwalk View, and even then many don't consider it to be too noisy. But to be safe, you'd be better off with a garden/water view in the back. If so, I'd recommend that you ask for a view of the quiet pool...it's very quiet and a lovely view.

We toured both resorts over Thanksgiving 2003 and all the decorations were just so beautiful. I'm starting to realize that we win either way and whatever one we choose this trip, we'll try the other next time.

I'm leaning a bit more toward BWV at this point, because of the location. A good deal will be close by and we'll have our car to drive to MK.

Any other pros and cons are greatly appreciated!

I hate to put a crimp in your plans, but BCV is both quiet and close to Epcot.

BTW, the MK is the only park I don't drive to. It's much faster to take the bus.

It's not a crimp in my plans. BCV was ruled out as I spent the first 32 years of my life in a seaside town in the northeast. I'm sure it's a lovely resort, but the theme just isn't for us this time 'round.

::yes:: I had a feeling when I saw you were from my "nation" (btw love the Damon pic!) that BCV would be out. I live on Cape Cod and own at VWL and BCV and BCV is very much like my home. I wanted to own their for sab. I'd go for VWL for half the stay and then switch to BWV :teeth:

We own at VWL and SSR if you like Epcot and your husband likes peace and quiet I would go with a standard view at the BWV (IMO) but no matter which one you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great vacation. keep us posted on your decision ::yes::

I had no clue the theme was so good!

This is a tough one. Do you spend a lot of time at the resort and in the room? Then I would go for VWL. If you only sit on your balcony for coffee and a drink at night, then BWV would be best. My friends were in a Preferred View all the way down at the end of the hall. They had a very nice, quiet view of the quiet pool, the canal and a bit of the Swan. I almost liked their view better than our Boardwalk View.

Everyone has such good advice. I shouldn't have asked as it's even harder to decide. :earseek:

I'm just so psyched to stay on property, this will be my first time. We stayed 10 days over Thanksgiving 2003 and it was just the best trip ever, but staying onsite is just going to blow that trip right out of the water. :worship:

We will spend some time in the room, but I'm such a freak for the parks that it's really no contest. I'm thinking that being near Epcot is so neat but Wilderness Lodge is so romantic. :rotfl2: I'm losing it.

VWL offers viewing of the water pageant each night from the beach. This can be very cozy and romantic.

If you are interested in renting watercraft, although both resorts have this available, there is a larger body of water to explore from the VWL. There are also more areas to bike if you like to do this. You can go all the way over to Ft. Wilderness.

It's really kind of a city or country thing. Which do you prefer?

We know were you are coming from, We too are in our mid-30's without kids. We find that we love VWL around the holidays. It just feels like Christmas. Just about the rest of the time we really like the BWV. If this trip is to celebrate the holidays and you don't have to many plans, go with the VWL. (The VWL has probably the slowest transportaion on property, but who cares if your "kicking back")
If you are looking to be on the go, stay at the BWV. Its in the middle of everything and the wings at the ESPN club can't hurt!!!
We'll see you there, we are checking in at BWV on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

If it just has to be one or the other I'd take VWL because of the whole Christmas thing. However I think the split stay idea is great. Whichever end of your vacation you think you'll want to do EPCOT/MGM and hang out on the boardwalk that's when you stay at BWV. You can either let Disney switch your luggage or with the car just do it yourself.

A good deal will be close by and we'll have our car to drive to MK.

Another crimp....you can't drive to MK! :wave2:

It's a tough choice. I own at both resorts and love them both.
BWV is so convenient and we like that it is close to Jellyrolls and ESPN. Not to mention EPCOT and the Studios.
At that time of year (Thanksgiving) my choice would be WL. DH and I always have a car, and it is never too long a drive to anywhere from WL. we always take the boat to MK from WL, it may be a tad longer than the bus but we enjoy the scenery on the way.
I also think that WL is more romantic.
You will enjoy wherever you decide to stay so don't fret about it too much. :sunny:

Both resorts are great in different ways. I would split the trip. I would start the vacation at the Boardwalk which offers entertainment within walking distance. The Wilderness lodge is a great place to end the vacation. The WL Christmas decorations and ambience are really nice during the holiday season. You can’t go wrong staying at either resort.

BWV can be very romantic also! Just walking around that lake at night. Very nice. DH and I love to stand and watch the BoardWalk buskers and the kids that crowd around them. Doesn't have to be quiet to be romantic! Also, there are mini golf course and lots of restaurants in walking distance. The BoardWalk bakery! The General Store! Jellyrolls!

Wish I could say something about VWL, but I was raised in Maine and see enough pine trees! Kind of like your beach thing - I just have no desire to stay at VWL. Doesn't mean it's not a great resort!
