We are considering our next trip to be at VWL...but......we are huge Disney transportation users. I know we can take the boat over to MK, but how do the busses run? Are the busses shared with Fort Wilderness?

Last year, after eating Thanksgiving dinner at Whispering Cayon, I took a bus from WL to Downtown Disney, and the bus ride was a NIGHTMARE! I think it took about 45 minutes before we were out of there. If the busses are the same, I will think long and hard before deciding to stay there.

Just returned from VWL. The bus to the Animal Kingdom was shared with the Grand Floridian. The bus to MGM Studios was shared with Fort Wilderness. Also the bus to Downtown Disney/Typhoon Lagoon was shared with the Grand Floridan. The trip to Downtown Disney did seem to be a bit long, but the Wilderness had its own bus coming back. I know some have had problems in the past, but the buses seemed to be as efficient as possible. We just tried to relax and enjoy leaving the driving to someone else!

We've also found the transportation to be fine from VWL. We use Disney transpo exclusively while at WDW and find it efficient. Yes, there is a wait sometimes, but nothing unreasonable IMO.

You will enjoy your trip very much!

We haven't had any major problems with the VWL bus and boat transportation. They continuously evaluate the bus loads and times and shift patterns accordingly. At different years, we've been on buses that shared with FW and other times with GF and Polynesian. Sometimes we've been on buses that didn't share with anyone.

I think everyone who has used WDW transportation over a period of many trips can relate at least one nightmare story. And we've heard about issues at virtually every on-site resort. So it's always a bit of a gamble, but the overall convenience is hard to beat.

Good luck on your decision.

The only time we ever had a problem with the bus/boat transportation at the VWL was when the boat transportation stopped before the MK closed. I think overall the VWL has one of the best transportation systems of the three on-site DVC resorts we have stayed at.

I think you will find that all resort buses to DD are slow. We have stayed at WLV twice and that bus was the only one that seemed to take a long time to catch.
We were at OKW in march. As close as that resort is to DD, it still took a long time to get there by bus. Our stays at All Stars, same deal.

depending on the time of day or night, we would take the boat over to the contemporary, jump on the monorail to the TTC, then take the bus direct to Downtown Disney. then returning, I thought they have their own bus? Taking the monorail may be just as long, but it is fun!!
