VWL Studio Question

When we stayed at VWL in a dedicated 2bdrm in 2001, the studio portion of the room contained 2 double/queen-size beds. We just booked a VWL studio for 3 nights through WDTC/CRO, and checking messages about the studios, it mentions they contain a queen-size bed and a sofa bed! Even the DVC member site notes the bed, sofa-bed combo in a 2bdrm. My question is...do all the stand-alone studios at VWL have the queen bed + sofa bed combination?

the simple answer to your question is: yes.

unfortunately, the only DVC resort that has studios with 2 queen beds is OKW.

all studios (whether dedicated or lockoff) at VWL, BCV, and BWV have the same configuration of 1 queen bed + 1 full sleeper sofa.

at VWL, all dedicated 2-bdrm units have 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom. (it's not really the "studio portion" since it's dedicated and thus doesn't have its own door to the hallway).

at BCV, only about 1/3 of the dedicated 2-bdrm units have 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom.
the rest of them have 1 queen bed + 1 queen sleeper sofa (due to an inreversible mix-up of some kind when BCV was under construction).

Disneyberry, thanks for the info! Being a long-time OKW DVCer, I'm used to the 2 queen bed configuration. I'm glad I'm finding this out while my kids are younger and it isn't a big deal to them if they sleep on a sofa bed or a regular one. I've now found another reason for being happy with OKW!

Ok....one more question! On the WDW website, it has layouts of each type of room available at VWL. Both the studio and the 2bedroom lock-off show a queen bed and sofa bed combo. However, the room layout between the studio and the studio portion of the lock-off look at little different. Are there dedicated studios at WLV? If so, what is their location? It seems there's a bit more space to them and the kitchenette section is a bit longer.

I think we had a dedicated studio on our recent stay at VWL, rm 1514. There was no connecting door to any other room. It was the second door on the left as you go down the hall on the first floor to the left of the elevators. We really liked the location. The room had two closets with plenty of space. Don't know if the counter was longer. The other studio we had stayed in was handicapped accessbile and had almost no counter. It was really quiet, close to the bus stop, not far from the laundry room ( two or three doors down the hall towards the pool), and not far down the hall and out the back towards the pool and boat.

Thanks again for responding to my questions! At this point, I'm still debating whether to just make any kind of room requests based on view versus asking for a dedicated studio.

We had a lot of your same concerns and questions before our first trip to VWL. Our kids are 8 and 10. They slept together in the sofa bed and said it was very comfortable, especially by sofabed standards. You will be spoiled by the size of rooms at OKW, but you probably very much will enjoy the peace and tranquility that we call Home at VWL

jimmytammy...I'm hoping to enjoy that peace and tranquility!!! When we were there in 2001, it was shortly after 9/11. They were working on the VWL pool, the hot/cold tubs were being worked on, and the snack bar was being painted. And I think there was some sort of exterior refurbishment program going on at WL. Despite all that, we did enjoy our trip. And we're looking forward to going back for a few days in August.

I am spoiled by OKW's two queen size beds in the studios! And after spending a few nights on the sofa bed at OKW one time, I'm not eager to repeat the experience or have anyone else do so. But I figure my kids are young enough and little enough not to mind!
