My first DVC reservation is in Dec. When I called as a first time DVC member they were able to give me VWL but not my 1st choice of BWV, we were waitlist for my first choice. So should I leave the waitlist it would save me 16 points for the same nights. Or should I keep VWL since it is hard to get during December? I am very happy to stay at either and we have never stayed at either.

Keep the reservation you have and do BWV next year. It's not like you won't have an opportunity.

I agree with Disneynutz, keep the VWL reservation. It is a gorgeous resort with a HUGE Christmas tree during the holidays. It is very relaxing and peaceful too. I actually like VWL more than the Boardwalk because the restaurants at VWL are right off the lobby. WDW can sometimes be a bit cold in December, especially in the evenings. All of the BWV restaurants are outside and you may not feel like going back outside to get dinner after coming from your room.

. . . . . . . . I actually like VWL more than the Boardwalk because the restaurants at VWL are right off the lobby. WDW can sometimes be a bit cold in December, especially in the evenings. If you are staying in the Villas, you must walk outside (under a covered walkway) from the Villas to the Main Lobby for the restaurants. There are no food services at all in the Villas part of the Lodge. We don't see this as a drawback. Artist Point is but a stroll away!

As a owner of pts at VWL, my 1st choice is VWL. But we love BWV also. VWL is hard to land anytime because it is the smallest DVC resort. Landing it in Dec. is a real tough find. Stay with what you have, it may not happen again, IMO.:thumbsup2 Have a great time!!

Our first DVC stay was at VWL! We alternate our December trips between VWL and BWV, they have our favorite Christmas decorations. Enjoy your stay, I would keep what I had if I were you!

You will love your VWL trip. December is the hardest time to book VWL, so consider yourself lucky. Besides, I doubt that a waitlist for a standard view room at BWV would come through because there are probably lots of others on the list. You still have BWV to anticipate for another year!

I agree with everyone, especially Jimmy's comment...this may well be your best and only shot at VWL during Christmas.

We own at BWV too, and enjoy it at Christmas time. But the Lodge, with its decorations and Christmas music piped throughout the grounds, is just a great setting.

Have a great trip, and by the way....WELCOME HOME!!!

What luck for your first reservation!! Definitely keep VWL for this year. It has wonderful ambience at Christmas time. You can always check out BWV on an Epcot or DHS day if you want - then you can book there next year. If the weather is cool when you travel, you'll enjoy the beautiful fireplaces at WL as well.

Be sure to CANCEL your WL if you decide to stay at the VWL. If you don't get off the list, they will automatically fill it if it comes through.

Enjoy!!

I was recently faced with the same choice but for a different time of year (late Feb/early Mar). I've stayed at both in the past, and I really liked the proximity to Epcot and Studios from BWV. But, the WL/VWL theme just does more for me, so that's the way I went.

However, the important question isn't what *we* want to do. It's what *you* want to do. Why was BWV your first choice? Is it because of a lower point cost, or some other reason? Also, if the wait list comes through, would you still have time to bank or use the extra 18 points? If not, then it's not worth worrying about.

My personal favorite between the two is BWV since I own there - but I still really love VWL! And since it's for December, I think you should definitely keep VWL. I've never been there Christmastime, but I've seen pictures and I've heard it's beautiful for Christmas. :)
