We just got back from our first stay at our home VWL and it did not disapoint. We loved every inch of the Lodge and are thrilled with our decision to make it our home.

The Good
Our accomodations. We had 2, 2 bedrooms on the 5th floor, lake view, right beside each other. I didn't give it the white glove treatment or anything but the room seemed to be immaculate. No issues whatsoever for the week. We could even seen the Electrical Water Pageant from our room. Also both rooms were ready before noon on Sun :)

Transportation-We had good luck all week with boats and busses. Never seemed to have more than a 10 min wait or so and they were never crowded. After MVMCP we waited for one boat but that's to be expected. We never took the bus to MK as we prefer the boat. DME was also very prompt when we arrived in Orlando.

Dining-I have both lunch and breakfast at WCC. We had extra table service credits so did breakfast at the Cafe and it was great. Lots of antics, ketchup, straws etc going on. My parents had never been here and they really enjoyed it. We also had lunch at Roaring forks and the sandwiches and fresh salads drew raves from our group. DH is still talking about the roast beef and blue cheese.

Decorations-I think the best on property, everything felt so warm and cozy.

Crowds-It felt like we had the place to ourselves. We were never in a crowded elevator, the pool was at maybe 5% capacity anytime we passed. And there never seemed to be anyone in the villa lobby. It was magical.

The Bad-Rained out at MVMCP. It was sold out on 10/14 and rained on and off all night long :( The only rain we had all week so it was a little frustrating. But Wishes and the parade were awesome! Santa even asked if it was my DS's first Christmas. We were a group of 12 in the hub in personalized Santa Hats if you saw us :)

The Ugly-Our Le Cellier experience for CP. We are all huge fans of Le Cellier. DH and I are alumni of the International Program as are my sister and BIL who are served in Le Cellier. My sister's manager still works there and they have stayed in touch. We had a 5:40 ADR for the 8:15 CP show. Now I knew a group of 12 would take a little longer than normal but we were seated at 6 and did not receive our entrees until 7:20!!! And our server was almost non existant after the apps arrived. We all had to wolf down our entrees and took our desserts to go. We have always had great service at this restaurant and were beyond disapointed. DH went back after the CP and talked to the manager and we were refunded all 12 dining credits. I cannot stress enough how important it is to talk to a manager ASAP when there is a problem. They cannot do anything after the fact. We will definitely go back to Le Cellier as I considered this an anomoly.

We moved to POR for our last 2 nights and we really enjoyed it. We had a great room right across from the Old Man Island in Magnolia bend and loved the boat ride back from the Marketplace.

Any questions I will be happy to answer as best I can.

Glad to hear you had a great trip! VWL is a really cool place to be in Dec., for sure. Sorry about the rainout at MVMCP. That happened to us our 1st time. This last time, it rained on us solid for an hour without letting up, with sprinkles off and on the first two hrs.

Thanks for posting you experience! Glad you love your new home!

Sounds like a great trip! The rain was a bummer - your only day of rain - it figures!!!

I know! There were 2 other MVMCP earlier in the week but I just picked Thurs at random. Oh well.

Im glad you loved your VWL experience. Sounds like a wonderful vacation (except for the MVMCP). We had such bad experiences with the boats while we were there. I wonder if it was just a fluke for the day that we had such trouble? Maybe we should have given it another chance. Ahhhh, next year.......

Sounds like fun! Meet anyone cool? ;)

I should have added that as a special sections "Highlights of the trip" Lunch with Kater and wdwpluto at WCC. :)

Thanks for sharing...I just love reading about others' wonderful trips home!

I have a question, if you don't mind...we also had a bad service experience last time we were at Disney (T-giving week)...our problem was at SSR's Turf Club (which we like a lot and ate at 3 times during the week we were there). The Turf Club also "made it right" (or tried to) when I finally got tired of gritting my teeth and announced that I was very unhappy...like with you, they offered us a refund of our dining credits...

I declined, though, because I didn't see how we could use them...there just wasn't enough room in our collective stomachs (including two teenagers!) for a whole additional round of TS meals!...were you able to use those 12 refunded credits?

Obviously, Disney can't do anything about the rain...but they do a great job of fixing it when "mistakes happen"...it's VERY frustrating to be kept waiting when you've specified that you're on your way to an event that starts at a certain time (and in your case, your meal was part of a CP package, which makes it even more acute)...but the way the Turf Club apologized to us, and tried to make it up to us; and it sounds like Le Cellier was just as eager to try to make it up to you, really makes a huge difference, I think...it's a key part o the "Disney Magic!"

Merry Christmas!

Definitely the service recovery makes a huge difference. It's the acknowledgement that things didn't go as they should and Disney wants to make it up to you. We were able to use up the additional credits (we were a group of 12) since we had done HDDR (2 credits) earlier in the week. We also used some credits for a sit down breakfast at WCC.
