If we were to bring bikes, can you pedal over to Fort Wilderness or other monorail loop resorts?
Afraid not. For the longest time, you could bike, walk, or run over to FW (you could even rent bikes at the Lodge); however, they closed down the path there several years ago. I've some hope they'll reopen it once the new DVC is built (the area that was once Reflections). For now, though, it's not open, and it would be unsafe to either walk or bike along the main roads either to FW or any of the other resorts. In fact, i'm not sure it's even allowed.

My husband and I have our first Boulder Ridge stay scheduled for May. It's just the two of us in a studio, so the murphy bed won't be used. However we do typically use the couch daily. So, asking about the couch part only, is the murphy couch more comfortable than the pullout couch? I'm going to be placing in my requests at some point and wanted to know if it's worth specifying a request for a murphy bed room. Thanks for your advice!

DH and I liked the Murphy couch at SSR better than the old pre-refurb pullout couch at BWV. The Murphy couch was much firmer, and the cushions didn’t slip around. At BWV the pullout couch was difficult to sit on for any length of time, because the cushions would slide forward and dump us on the floor (well, almost, if we hadn’t stood up and pushed them back every little while). We haven’t been to BWV post-refurb to see whether they’re the same as at SSR.

I’ve read other posts complaining about the Murphy couches being too firm and uncomfortable, so YMMV depending on what you find comfortable!

Hey juliebee
We were at VWL back in Dec and I can say that the Murphy bed sofas aren't really comfortable IMO. And the old pullouts weren't as well. I spent mornings sitting on the MB sofa this past trip and looking at my computer or TV. It wasn't too a point I would be squirming constantly, but I feel the sofas are probably meant to be uncomfortable to get us out of our rooms and in the parks or eateries, spending money :teeth: , a Disney trick so to speak!
Seriously though, both sofas are just so so for sitting, so I wouldn't let that affect your room requests.

No, bicycles are not allowed to be ridden on any roads on Disney property with the exception of at the Campground. You would have to drive and park at FW if you wanted to ride your bikes there. You can't bike from the WL to FW. And you don't want to be riding bikes on any Disney roads - driving is bad enough!

Thank you! That is just the analysis I was hoping for. I know many prefer the murphy bed because of better sleeping situation and I didn't want to make a needless request that might potentially take away a murphy room from someone who would actually need it. However, bummer the couches aren't more comfortable. I enjoy sitting and reading on vacation, not just parks nonstop, so was hoping the couch was a bit better.

If you want the pull out sofa instead of a Murphy bed/sofa, request the top floor of BRV (5th, I believe). And, just as an FYI, room 4533 is the only BRV studio without a balcony. I can't remember the reason why, but it does not have a balcony. It's a 4th floor room.

Just booked our 1br for a week in August!

We typically stay BWV, but DH requested we stay here. He typically lets me do all the planning so I was excited for his input and that I could get what we wanted at 7 months.

Only 212 days to go 🤣
Excited for you!

It’s always nice to have a countdown, no matter the number!

Does anyone know if the gift shop sells half gallons of milk? I vaguely recall a refrigerated section in the back but I didn't really look closely at it.

Yes. We always buy milk, eggs and bacon plus a few other things.

Nice! I don't want to put any cold things in my order. I know bell services will refrigerate...but I honestly don't trust the delivery person because I know it's possible they could take other orders and my stuff could sit in their car. Yeah...I'm a paranoid person. Ha!
