VWL Groupies & Lovers Thread (Special Collectors Edition 2.5) updated 2 February 2025

We were there last January (MW so busy) when they will still renovating BRV. Part of the parking lot had been taken over by the cons crew. We still never had a problem with parking, in fact we got a spot right up front on day!
Ditto. I actually find the Wilderness Logge parking lot to be very managable compared to some resorts where you could end up parking very far away or even across the road. Never had an issue finding a spot there either.

Well, I'd have to toss the themes from both THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN and SILVERADO ahead of this selection, pardner, and I'm with bluecastle that I'm partial to Aaron Copland over any of those. pirate:
Agree to disagree there, Hoss. Copeland is a winner, but I think Appalachian Spring is his best work and doesn’t really grab the western theme. Rodeo and Billy the Kid don’t do it for me. I’ll give you The Magnificent Seven as a lock on the #2 spot though for sure. 🤠

And this, Groupies, is why our thread feels like home, a warm, familial spot to come, share, laugh, and feel welcome. This repartee made my morning coffee just a little nicer. :surfweb::wizard:

Thank you guys for sharing the music from our wonderful Lodge. Every morning when I get ready for my day I go into Youtube and either listen to MK park music or the music from the Lodge. I think most if not all of us can agree that the Lodge has the absolute best background music of any of the resorts. This is the link for what I listen to. It has all the music.

That's a great video and it's in my favorites/saved list.

Speaking of The Magnificent Seven, the original one, that’s my all time fave western themed movie. Yul Brynner is a bit dramatic for a cowboy but the overall film, the story, acting, writing, scenes, etc make it a very enjoyable and re-watchable film. Good vs bad and good wins.
Pale Rider starring Clint Eastwood is another one that I love to see. Though not one of his better known films, I think it is very well done. Not sure to this day, is he alive or a ghost? Guess I’ll never know😊

We are taking my BIL and his wife and 3 teens in oct staying at the lodge

My SIL gave us a big list of places to eat and we have been narrowing down the choices today to make sure we are ready when the 60 day date rolls around

Wow taking 8 folks is a big task trying to navigate it all😂

I bet. The largest group we have had to plan for is 5.

Here is one for a restful Sabbath Sunday
Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland
Just an interesting fact about AS (since it was mentioned that it’s not western). AC did not name it that. His title was A Ballet for Martha (Graham)
As long as the music makes me think of forests, cowboys, and Native Americans (and Field of Dreams :) ), I am happy. We are going the week before Thanksgiving in 2024 and I’m actually hoping we have a few days of non-holiday music! I love the music so much that I am willing to sacrifice a day or two of having the tree up. :)

I should know this but it's Sunday and my brains day off. We are renting DVC points for our trip and I can't remember if the person we are renting from needs to put in any room requests at the time they book the rooms or do I do it later. TIA

I think it would be good for the owner of points to put in room ( not maroon) requests at reservation time, then 2 weeks from your arrival date, you call resort direct and ask for room request as well.
I’ve been told by a DVC CM calling resort direct 2 weeks before is best way to get requests made.

Thank you. I will have to make sure to write that down so I remember to do it.
