VWL Groupies & Lovers Thread (Special Collectors Edition 2.5) updated 2 February 2025

Hi all! Been a minute since I have posted. Hope everyone is doing well. DD and I were going to go to Tokyo Disney next year but I think we are putting that on hold for at least a year. We may head down to WDW next February instead. Don't think it will involve staying at the Lodge though but we will visit for sure.

My DIS group is also thinking about doing Tokyo Disney next year! I might have to postpone due to another trip got rescheduled. Now thinking about going to Aulani this Fall...that's if they have villas available for the time frame we want to go.

I'm thinking we may be better off waiting another year anyway. I'm worried that it will be pretty crowded with everyone being able to go back. Hopefully waiting another year it may calm down. I would love to go to Aulani sometime. My husbands coworker goes all the time and loves it.

Definitely have to check the crowd calendar/festivals and plan around it. Do you follow TDRexplorer on YouTube or IG? He's our Tokyo Disney go-to vlogger!
I wasn't as interested in Aulani before becoming members,, because the rack rates for just the hotel room is crazy! Even when they do 25-30% off promos is still a lot. But now we will have points, sure why not! 😁 I have heard a lot of great things about Aulani through members, how Disney really did an amazing job with this resort, so I want to see it for myself and experience it at least once.

Yes we love TDR Explorer!! He is awesome. We do have a couple of times we are thinking of that we think will be good. My daughter was there a few years ago pre covid in April and it was a good time to go. We are thinking then or October because she wants the Halloween stuff.

@Disney loving Iowan By the way, I LOVE your corgi avatar! I grew up with one (my parent's corgi) in the 90s when no one knew what a corgi was! Then I got my own corgi after college, and she passed a few years ago. I have been back and forth wanting to get another one, but when I think about how easy it has been when we are on vacation for a week or two....then I don't want one! LOL!

Haha our DIS group also agree October will be optimal for most everyone! The weather is cooler, not as humid and scorching hot, and yes it will be fun to see their Halloween stuff. We will have to make more than one trip there for sure, because their holidays is what I want to experience the most! That will be further down the list, let's get the first trip in the books first! 😅

Aww. I have had 3. Sadly lost my last one a year ago. They are the best dogs. There are times when I really want to get another one but I just don't know if I can go through that loss again. I know what you mean about the vacation thing. All 3 of us haven't been on vacation together in a long time because of the dogs. Someone has to stay home with them. I currently have a 5 year old cocker spaniel. KAT4DISNEY has also had corgis.

It's definitely painful when we lose them, it never gets easier. They are one of the smartest but also the most "diva" dogs! At least mine and my parents were, and they outsmarted us all the time! They keep us on our toes for sure, never a dull moment with them!

Reporting live from Wilderness Lodge 😂
Boat Docks are being worked on today. They have the normal magic kingdom side closed off at the main dock, loading from Fort Wilderness side. Also, a crew working on the old boat rental dock. Really hoping it’s repairs and may indicate something reopening over there.
Thank you for the pics and posting the news!
This is a very hopeful sign for the return of the resort loop boat as well as rentals. Fingers crossed!

I don’t think it’s any indication of the resort loop returning since they removed the resort loop flag sign (🫤) However it does look like they are replacing the boards on the rental dock so that may be a great sign for those returning. Im thinking they may replace some boards on the MK dock too and that’s why it’s closed off.

Thinking of buying DVC and trying to decide on a home resort. We love Wilderness Lodge and I like that Boulder Ridge is 2042. Can anyone give me any downside to Boulder Ridge that I may not have thought of?

If there’s ever a year you can’t make it to a resort do you ever have trouble selling your Boulder Ridge points? Thanks in advance!

Christmas time (starting after Thanksgiving) can be difficult to get a reservation, but if you can book at exactly 11 months you can get a reservation. So it’s a possible downside, but also a plus. You won’t be able to stay there without owning points for Christmas.

Another downside: the one bedrooms only sleep 4, not 5 people.

That’s all I can think of. We never rent out our BRV points, only our other resorts as we love staying there so much! 🤣 So can’t answer as to renting.

We are first time DVC members so I wouldn't be able to give you better insight like the members that have owned there for a long time with more booking experience or renting out their points. However, I can say that with the refurb, many people want to stay at BRV now (especially during the holidays) and that might help with renting out your points?

This is the one downside I realized - BRV doesn't have grand villas. It's not a big deal to us since we rarely travel with others. But if you like doing big family/friends trip and staying together in the villa, this might be a big con. You will have to rely on the other resorts have grand villas available at 7 months.

So we were going to do the Swan and BLT but I don't really want to do the Swan TBH. We were only thinking of that because of it's location. No availability at the Boardwalk or Beach club sadly. Also nothing really available at the Lodge at that time. So I'm thinking I would really like to do the Poly instead because I have never stayed there. Just can't decide if I still want to do a split stay or just stay at the Poly the whole time. Hard decision. We did really love BLT last time. Help! LOL

What's the reason you don't wanna do Swan? How long is your stay? I am the type that if we are staying at least a week, I wouldn't mind split stay. Otherwise, I don't wanna do couple nights here, pack up then just couple nights again at a different hotel. Too much work and can be waste of time.

@takemetomickey One more "downside" about BRV. Although, I think this is just a personal thing and probably doesn't affect others as much. I like most of the dining options but I don't like Storybook dining at Artist Point. I wish it was a non-character dining, but I get why it's there at the lodge. So when we stay there, if we want a nicer dinner we would have to leave the lodge. Again, this is a personal thing as most members probably wouldn't even care.

Staying for 8 nights so a split stay is doable. We would do 4 and 4. I just don't want to stay there for the 4 nights and then regret not staying the whole time because we love it so much lol. Honestly though we really loved BLT also so I know that will be great too. Just can't decide. LOL As far as not wanting to stay at the Swan part of it is the transportation but also just not feeling it.
