Thanks to all the wonderful comments here on the board DH & I decided we definitely want to go to WDW for our 15th anniversary! Called today and actually got a 1BR at VWL for three nights in October. After reading the posts here and the difficulty obtaining a room at VWL I was a little shocked to get (and elated, I think . . .) We've never been to VWL before having always stayed at our home BWV. We really want to experience the other DVC properties as the opportunity arises. So. . . will we enjoy VWL for our getaway? What are the benefits/must-do's at this property?

A Sense of Seclusion,
A Lakeside Retreat.

A Cool Drink in Hand,
Your Bare Feet in the Sand.

Hot Coffee and Sunrise over Bay Lake,
Quietly Noticing the Wakes that Ducks Make.

The Wind in the Pines,
Their Scent in the air.

Walking Together
You've Made Quite a Pair.

Wow, GG.....that's quite an elegant bit of poetry there! Nicely done! :thumbsup2

MinMouse....I think BWV and BCV are probably harder to book in October than VWL due to the Food & Wine Festival. You will definitely enjoy VWL as a romantic getaway spot. While at the resort you will feel like you're in your own secluded retreat from the rest of WDW. There are many things to do, such as...

Take a nice stroll through the dense foliage on a paved path to FW....you may see deer as we have a couple of times on that walk. Or rent bicycles to do the same.

Rent a boat and explore Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon...very nice to hang out and see monorail resorts and MK from a unique perspective.

Hang out near the lake and watch the Electric Water Pageant come by. This is a very good occasion to have an adult beverage if you're so inclined. :)

Spend some time in the Iron Spike room by the fireplace, hanging out, reading, playing checkers, whatever. Very relaxing. Or if you don't mind more people, hang out in the WL lobby and enjoy that great place.

Take a guided tour of WL. It has great theming and the guide can give you some insights into the place.

Hang out on a balcony on the 3rd or 4th floor of the lobby overlooking the pool and Bay Lake. Oh, and a geyser that some find downright inspiring that will amazingly spout on a regular schedule. A beautiful scene...again enhanced by an adult beverage (is there a theme here?). :)

I'm sure you will enjoy VWL quite a bit. It is very different from BWV, which we also enjoy a lot (bought a resale contract there).

Enjoy your trip planning! I think you'll find VWL to be just what the Anniversary Doctor ordered!

I hope it's good for an anniversary trip, as dh and I will be celebrating our 15th there this October! We're spending two nights at the Polynesian and then moving to our VWL for a long weekend. I think it's going to be verrrry romantic, for all the reasons mentioned above! And great poem, Geyser Gazer! :thumbsup2

VWL is our favorite of all the resorts. We love that it is quiet and seems secluded although you're not far from the action.

A nice dinner at Artist's Point would be a great way to celebrate also.

And don't forget you'll have that jacuzzi tub!

Enjoy your trip. We'll be there with family in Nov.

:cool1: Sounds wonderful! I'm going to check out Artist's Point --- would that be good for our anniversary night dinner?

Yeah that jacuzzi tub is the reason we decided to go 1BR instead of studio!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

MinMouse,

The Territory Lounge is also a very nice quiet spot to have a couple adult beverages also. DH and I spent a little time there one evening on our trip last year. Our server was a really nice young girl named Giselle. The place wasn't too busy and we spent a little time talking with her. You'll love VWL.
It's also very nice to just sit on the front porch in one of the rockers in early evening for awhile. Renting the water sprites is a lot of fun also. Haven't eaten at Artist's Point so I can't comment on that. But, it is a very secluded feeling at the Lodge and very relaxing. I'm sure you'll love it.
