Hi, we're renting points at VWL for our upcoming Jan trip.

For one of the rooms we're renting, the owner we're renting through booked us a Dedicated 2 bd and I wasn't sure if that should show up somewhere? On the res page and on MDE it just shows 2 bd, doesn't say anything else. Is that something only the owner sees somewhere?

Also, I've heard that VWL/WL won't accept faxes for room requests - is that true? If so, what do people typically do, just call (or in our case, have the DVC owner call) to put their requests on the res and hope that's enough, or do you call VWL directly 3 or 4 days in advance?

Thanks! :)

Not sure on your question about the dedicated vs lock off showing up on the reservation.... but on the room request the owner can call or email Member Services.

DVC just shows 2 bedroom as a dedicated unit, so that's what you have. If if was a lock-off unit, the description would say 2 br-lockoff. As for requests, there really aren't any at VWL that are necessary. You can make requests during on-line check-in. Anything else specific needs to be noted in the reservation itself, which the member will have to do for you. Disney stopped accepting faxed room requests several years ago, and went to this system as people were getting angry when their requests weren't being granted. Just remember these are just requests and they might not be granted especially with a DVC resort as they have a different way of filling up the rooms. They have a room ready policy in that if a room is ready and you're waiting, you get it usually regardless of your requests. I once requested a room close to the elevator and the lady checking me in said yes, your room is close to the elevator and I ended up at the end of the hall!!!! 10 days of schlepping.....

Great, thanks!

So are DVC resorts typically not so great with room requests? I know the owner requested near elevators, lower floor, we have 2 rooms booked though (the 2 bd and then a studio) so I was really hoping to get them somewhat near each other if possible, or at least on the same floor... is that worth asking the owner to add to the reservations or is it unlikely to happen anyways?

IMO VWL isn't that great with room requests. I've NEVER gotten my requests granted there when I've asked for them. When I didn't put any, I got the BEST room, go figure......... I think as long as the member has noted that you're traveling together with the other reservation they will try to keep the rooms close together, but again it's going to be what's available. Most of the 2 br dedicated are located at the ends of the hallways, so there is a possibility that you could be a distance even on the same floor.
