Anyone know of any inexpensive activities to do at VWL? We'll be there next Sept and do not plan on visiting the parks (other than MK, DDs favorite).

Thanks

If you go to the campgrounds, they have a petting zoo, bike rental, and a marshmellow and movie campfire thingy at night that was lots of fun.

You have to take a bus I think to the campground, and then transfer to another bus there I believe.

Also, there is swimming over there, and Mouse rental boats.

Oh, a hay ride.

Very kid friendly.

What's inexpensive?

You can bike, walk, bus or boat over to the campgrounds. And yes there is a petting zoo and other FW entertainment over there.

You can tour/explore/pool hop the Magic Kingdom hotels.

Use the exercise room in VWL (free!).

Have high tea at the Grand Floridian. Play tennis at the Contemporary.

Rent various types of boats (bringing back the question of "what is inexpensive?).

Lounge by the pool.

Further afield...

DTD, mini-golf, the boardwalk, water parks. And then you can ...gasp...go offsite. There is a huge outlet mall very close to Disney that I believe you can reach by the proper combination of mass transit (or use a cab). Once at that mall you can then access whatever is going on on I-drive...and even Universal. This part I haven't actually done yet...its on the plan for my next Disney-without-theme-parks-or-a-car trip. But I do know the transit connections exist especially the I-drive part.

Higher in price...

Cirque du Soleil, House of Blues, golf, a spa treatment...and I could be wrong but I thought at least one of the backstage tours was available without a park pass.

The campfire and movie is one of our favorite things to do. You can take the boat over and then walk from the dock or you can take the buses. The buses take forever and the walk is nice if the weather is good. (The bus drivers also don't usually have any idea where the campfire is, so you may want to check with the WL desk and get the exact drop-off number before going over - the campground is BIG and can be confusing at night). The WL activity sheet that you get at check-in usually lists which movies are showing on what nights. Also, there is a pre-movie sing-a-long with Chip and Dale that is very Disney. They sell "smore fixins" and other stuff right there and it is the most reasonably priced food items that we have found at WDW. Lastly, there is a grill on the beach at WL and picnic tables. We grilled out one night and the kids played in the sand. It was a fun night of "down time"

Thanks for all the info.

By inexpensive I'm looking to stay under $50 for a family of 3. I am open to all ideas so please keep em coming.

Thanks

do you like exploring - then this is the hotel for you - there is alot to be seem in the hotel and the villa - take your time to explore - the pool - both the main and quiet - are a great way to spend some time - make sure you see the geyser both in the daytime and at night.

watch the Electric Water Pagen on the beach at night - this is kind of silly - very dated - but hey it is an orginially!!!!

you can walk all around the place - lots of walking paths and things to see along them. walking to FW is not a problem and you might see a racoon or a deer or both along the way.

take the tour - it is free - and very informative - do you like to read??? this is a great resort for reading - either up on the fourth floor in the hideaway (this is in WL not VWL) - or in the rooms at VWL - you can also people watch - there are rocking chairs on the front entrance at VWL for this surpose.

do you like animals - VWL/WL/FW have a great variety - one day it might be fun to just watch the animals

try to be the flagg family - must sign up for this when you check in - I don't like - but I have a heights problems....:o

this is a beautiful resort - one of the few where I can find enough stuff to do that going to the parks is not always on the list....

Rent a golf cart for a hour at the campground! It was a blast for our family of 3. Very cheap and an hour is all that you would need!

We just drove it around and checked out the campers and the cabins. It was amazing, some of those campers! WOW!

A great way to explore the campground. But be sure to bring your ID with you!
