VR a celebration of rememberance:30th anniversary shouldn't you get to know us first?

YAY! He has "put us down" for the vow renewal on the 9th at the airport! :cool1: I honestly didn't think he would respond this quickly, and I had concerns about his availability. I must say though, I am very excited. He is just such a wonderful human being and clergyman! Now, I wait until April to find out the time, and ....will it even be possible on the 9th? Can't wait for those college kids fall schedules.

So... I think we figured out how to post a picture of the invitation. This (if it comes out) is the front of the invite (at least I think that is how we will do it) I am hoping we can figure out how to change the font to something a bit more fancy.

BTW, The words are from Alan Jackson Song "Remember When". I'm sure anyone married for years can relate. I just love this song.

We are reconsidering the invitatin style. Below is the link of the one we are now leaning toward. It was truly a combined family effort. If you click on the link it will bring you to photobucket, then to see the inside left, right and the back you can see the actual invitation. As we are not sure of some of the information yet, there are 0's and X's instead of times, dates and locations. I really am pleased with how it turned out. I can't wait to finish & have it printed. (of course I may only be printing 3. :confused3 )

sorry, not sure what happened to the photo of the invite, but I will try to print one, take a photo then post. But that will be done after we finalize the details of the invite.

UPDATE:
We sent the invites out. below is a picture of them. There are 2 different invites. One for those invited to the actual ceremony(which are very few)and 1 for those invited to help us celebrate & reminisce. The only difference is the wording.

If anyone has any ideas feel free to throw them into the mix.
Welcome bags sound like a great idea!! I think you already have written down most of the things I would have considered putting in. What kind of candy did he give you?

YAY!!! I'm glad you are at least penciled in to doing the VR at the airport. Hopefully the triplets' schedules will agree!!

Great looking invitation!! I like them both actually. Yep, I know that song and it brings tears to my eyes. It just seems that time flies by SOOOOO FAST!

He gave me Fannie Mae meltaways. :cloud9: yummy.

It does fly so fast. I am okay with it slowing down a bit now. :)

Well, it seems the actual vow renewal is going to be a few more people than we had thought. Another friend of ours has stated if we do a vow renewal he would most defiantly be interested in attending. This particular friend is very close. He has been coming to our house on a weekly basis for over 25 years. The woman that is coming with her family with us to WDW was a weekly guest for many years as well. Now we will need to revisit who we should invite to the renewal itself.

We’ve had a bit of bad news lately. It has been difficult to be enthusiastic to plan our event with such a heavy heart.
It’s time however to refocus, because, life does go on and what better way to proceed than with a vow renewal and celebration in WDW. However the loss we experienced was the Mom of our maid of honor. So it is a bitter sweet thought to be planning the renewing of our vows at this particular time.

So, here we go. We got good news from the event planner regarding our VR. Any park tickets purchased for the people attending our VR will be subject to a …discount! YAY! Especially for our DD BF who is just graduating from college this summer, and will have enough other expenses to deal with.

We have picked up a few more things for the welcome bags. We picked up bubble bath from the $1 bin at target that are bottled to look like champagne. Each of us ladies will get a bottle of that. :cloud9:We also picked up a sewing kit for each family, innersoles for tender feet – which we picked up @2 for $1, moleskin for those sore blisters, lanyards off ebay for the young ones, magnets from the Disney Store, lip balm.

Since I spend most of my vacation in my wheelchair it is helpful to have an ID on it. Thanks to the Creative DiSigns threads on these boards I have been able to get custom “license plates” for my wheelchair. The designer was kind enough to do one for each day of our vacation, so I can change it every day, making it a little more fun to be in the chair. I am very excited about that. I will laminate each of them, use large loose rings and dangle it from the back of my chair.
I am hoping to do some more research on the boards and get/make custom water bottle labels and tissue tags, bookmarks , there was something else too, but it has slipped my mind at the moment. Oh, and I made music cd’s that contain our families favorite Disney music as well as DH & my wedding song, and the other married couples wedding song. I am very excited about these….as is DD who keeps asking me if she can have hers now.

I hate to wish time away, but I am anxious to find out what the "kids" fall schedule will be so I can finalize the vow renewal itself.

Sorry that you lost your friend's mother. It's so hard when loved ones pass.

Your goody bags are shaping up well!!! I think those are all fantastic additions to the bags that your guests are sure to enjoy.

Congrats on the discounts!!!! How nice of Disney to recognize your special occasion by giving the guests discounts!!!

Go ahead and wish time away. I'm sitting here wish the next 96 days would just fly by!!!

Thanks for the condolences. I lost my mom a few months ago, so I think some of the grief was carried over to this loss... my 2nd childhood mom.

96 days!! YAY for you!

The discount is going to help my DD BF the most. He will be right out of college. And yes it is very nice of Disney to recognize special moments in this way. Just more of the Disney magic. :)
Is your DH getting excited at all. We need to brainwash that man. :rotfl2:

DD helped me make labels for the cd's we are making. She is very creative. I was very impressed. She designed the labels then put some wording on it. We just have to figure out how to adjust margins, because a little bit of the paper is showing on the edge. I am very proud of her. She's like...no big deal Mom. Of course I grew up with type writers, and honestly they weren't always electric. The creativity of computers still tend to amaze me.

Heavy heart again. The dear friend who was so enthusiastic about attending our vow renewal passed away 2 hours ago. I will always be grateful for his enthusiasm. And, carry a bit of heavy heart we had not included him in the vacation plans. RIP my beloved Frank.

I shall post more on the vow renewal after my grief has subsided.

sorry to be a downer.

Sorry it's been such a rough time for you!!

I do hope your plans are coming along well. My DH is not really excited yet about the trip. He doesn't get too excited about things so I don't see him getting more excited at all! lol......

When will the kids get their college schedules? Anxious to hear that it's all going to work out for you!

Ooooh we got our school calendars for next year the other day and we have off one day at the end of October and 2 days at the beginning of November so I'm trying to squeeze a trip to DW in there somewhere but we will have to see. DH has not said NO yet so there is still hope. I need to think of some creative ways to make some extra money!!! :rotfl2:

thank you.

OOOHHHH you have to go in November! It is so beautiful weather wise, the crowds are less (unless it is Thanksgiving week) and if you time it right you can see the Christmas decorations! Plus it is off season, so you can usually get a room a bit cheaper!

The "kids" get their college schedules in April. I think the 2nd week. I am anxious to finalize the date of the vr.

Yep I would get to do Food and Wine and the way MVMCP falls we may actually make a Christmas party in there too!!! However DH has always wanted to go on a cruise just the two of us so I may be losing this battle but I'm going to give it a good shot. :rolleyes1

So one month to wait for schedules.....you can do this!! Hopefully with Easter in the middle this month will fly by for both of us!!

oh, a cruise with just the 2 of you??!! that would be nice. I personally, can't do boats of any type. a fear no sea sickness. But a vacation just me & dh, sounds lovely. Since the triplets were born we have only had 1 night away from the kids. That was last year. :rotfl2: They watched the youngest. :lovestruc

We've done the Food & Wine a few times. But last year we really enjoyed it the triplets are finally mature enough they were willing to taste new food. We had a lot of fun! We've only done MVMCP once, it was much smaller an event then, we enjoyed it. My Dad & his longtime girlfriend came along, they were a bit of a downer. They live in FLA so, I thought they would get a big kick out of the "snow" falling on mainstreet. But turns out the 50 + weather was too cold for them. I want to try it again. Maybe this year if it is happening.

I posted, then reread my post. sorry for the run on sentences & poor punctuation. I'm sure as a teacher that must drive you crazy. I'll blame old age & being interrupted by DD. ;)

I've begun to move forward. I went on the creative DISign thread here & got some wonderful items for the VR trip.

book marks, and "license plates" for my wheelchair
DH disigned a cd label ...actually a few different styles, we haven't decided which one yet.

BUT the most exciting part is .... all of my familys passes are purchased. 4AP's (hoping for another trip before they expire) and 2 4day PHP. (I am not sure these two actually belong to us. They didn't have any interest in trying to go again within the 12mnth period, so we just got them the 4 day passes.).

We had a small house fire yesterday. I am very very grateful, we realized the dryer was on fire immediately, so no one was hurt and it was minimal damage. The fire dept was wonderful, as well as a neighbor, and a police officer that happened to be in the area.

But, all the stuff I had made for our trip is ruined. It has smoke damage. I doubt even if I air it out, that that smell will go away. So, back to square one with all the stuff I had put together. At least most of the stuff I had actually purchased (as opposed to made) was upstairs, which was pretty much untouched by the smoke.

Again, I feel blessed, it could have been much much worse.

The insurance guy is coming out today...hmmm... wonder if I can claim my homemade book marks. :lmao:

It's been a tough few months, thank God I have Disney to look forward to. :)

OH NO!!!! How scary!! That is one of my biggest fears!!!

I'm glad you caught it early!

I'm so sorry it ruined your handmade stuff. Why couldn't it be the other way around??? It's so much easier to just go buy more stuff instead of having to make more things. Maybe there's some way to take the smoke smell out of them?? :confused3

Haha. You are right it is easier to just go buy new stuff than to make it, but maybe this is what is meant to be. If I keep busy making stuff for something I am looking forward to ...aka disney & our vr, then maybe my mind won't roam to less happy things.

But, since we are not filing an insurance claim because our deductible is $1000. I am happy it is a much cheaper fix. :)

I am hanging on waiting for the kids to let me know what their schedules are.

Your trip is getting SO close. You must be SO excited! Are your boys informed of this trip? (sorry if you mentioned that, as my SIL would say I suffer from CRS...can't remember ...stuff :rotfl: )

Have a happy day!

Oh I definitely did NOT mean to scratch the homemade idea, just how inconvenient it was to lose the stuff you had worked SOOOO hard on. When you remake the items I would love to see them!! They should be part of your PTR!! :thumbsup2

Yes I am VERY VERY excited!!! I'm probably the most excited one while we wait for a trip. My boys do not go nuts until we actually leave for it.

The boys do know. We have a huge countdown on the wall at our house. Let me go take a quick picture of it to show you where we are! *runs get camera*

DSCN6608.jpg

So it does not look like DISNEY anymore but the point is when all of the Mickey heads (my boys call them Toodles) are gone we get to leave. The truth is sadly that it would take us two days to drive them so since we are flying to Florida our count is off by one day in the WRONG direction!!! :scared1: We will actually finish our count and still have another day. I'm trying to convince DH to drive part of the way to the airport and just stay in a hotel for the boys' sake. He isn't buying it yet but I do usually get my way and honestly the airport is almost 3.5 hours away with a morning flight so I think he will go for it eventually!

I do hope you get on the road to recovery with the house damage. It's so hard when part or all of your home is unusable.
