Vow Renewal, Sept '09, Questions.

My wife and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in Sept of '09. We've already decided we're going to be doing that at WDW, specifically staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (Villas, actually), with the kids and probably my parents.

My plan is to do a "surprise" vow renewal with the Disney Wedding folks. I'm going to be contacting them at some point over this summer to get things rolling...but what I'd REALLY like to do is the renewal on the Arusha kopje (rock outcropping) at the Lodge with a family dinner in the wine room at Jiko's afterwards.

It would just be the 7 of us.....

Do ANY of you know ANYTHING about doing that? The kopje is NOT one of the sites they list for weddings/vow renewals, but I've seen....on some TV show (food network, maybe??).... that they've done rehersals there, with rehersal dinners at Jiko's. This wouldn't be TOO much different than that, considering the very small party size.

So, do any of you have any insight? Or have any of you seen any threads around you could direct me to for some?

Also, keep in mind...I'm a guy. This "wedding planning" thing is pretty foreign to me. I helped plan our wedding...but to be honest my wife did the heavy lifting and I just offered up opinions when consulted. So any other help/suggestions would be great, too.....keeping in mind I do want to keep this relatively small.

I found a couple of threads about the Animal Kingdom locations...it seems the information may be a bit inconsistent. What you might want to do is check out these threads and then confirm with Disney about the location you want. Sometimes with Disney, anything is possible (for the right price ).

I plan to do that in about 6 weeks or so when I begin "the process".

However, prior to that...I'd like to do some research and get a feel for what it's reasonable to be able to ask them for, and what's not. Also, if there is some "precedent" for it being done....well, we all know that sometimes different CM's will say or know different things.

So this is sort of my "pre-booking" fact finding expedition.

Sounds like (from the above threads) they may have stopped doing them at the lodge...which would be a bummer.

Good to know going in, though.

firstly, congratulations and welcome
that is such a romantic idea I'm totally freaking out right now.
The disney wedding special on the food network showed a couple getting married at the kopje. The "mistressofallevil" had her reception at the jiko wine room so you can ask her questions too
I'm going to use the AKL villas too
