I've just posted my recap of sorts of our vow renewal aboard the Magic on the 9/28 sailing. It's located on the Disney Wedding/Honeymoon board. It's not a trip report but simply a few comments concerning the renewal package that Fairy Tale Weddings offer. Here is the link....

If anyone is planning a renewal on board and has questions please feel free to pm or email me as I'd be happy to share the experience in more detail or answer any questions.

It was definitely an experience of a lifetime and one we'll always cherish.

Renee, sounds like a wonderful memory was created on-board the Magic. I agree, from what you said, the package on board the ship does sound better than the one at the WP--particularily the picture you got. Thanks for sharing.

It sounds great and my husband has been after me for a few years to renew our vows. We're going on our first cruise next August 2003 and it will be our 15th wedding anniversary in May 2003. I'm thinking of surprising my husband but I'm worried we're going to be so busy trying to see and do everything it will be hard to fit this in also. What do you think?

The vow renewal ceremony takes place on an at sea day. The only activity you may have to pass up is something taking place on the ship that afternoon. But the way DCL schedules things you'd have the option of participating in it on one of the other at sea days instead.

The renewal package that FTW offers includes amenities (gifts) that you experience throughout the week. Concierge service, gifts left at various times on the different days, a day in the rainforrest in the spa, etc. Your actual ceremony performed by the captain takes place at 4-4:30pm. Your cake/champagne reception is immediately after. Then you are taken around the ship at various spots for pictures. By this time the characters have arrived in the atrium for formal shots (this is the second formal evening). You're taken to each character line for photos (you won't have to wait as you're taken to the front of the line).

The renewal in no way takes away from any enjoyment onboard. You won't feel as though you've missed out since it is an at sea day. In reality the ceremony/reception and pictures are about an hour to an hour and a half of your trip. The captain and the staff do an excellent job on your personal, memorable occasion.

If you haven't already done so, contact Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding department. They can give you more information on the 2003 cruise package. Since your cruise is already booked you could do an add-on renewal. They will book them 12 months out so you're within that time frame. They do try to limit the ceremonies so you'd want to check to see if your date is available.

Hope that helps. Happy planning.

Renee - I've booked our vow renewal for 8-21st on the Magic. It's hard to get a response from the wedding department so I thought you would know the answer. With respect to the Concierge Service, will we get priority reservations at Palo and the Spa? Or should we run around with everyone else? I don't want to miss out on the ressie times I want by waiting. What are the perks to having Concierge Service?

I am curious about this too. Since we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary while on board (12/10/03), I thought this might be a fun thing to do. We are also traveling with 3 other couples. Are they included in the activities ("reception") and photos or is it just the bride/groom and children (we have 1 dd)?

FC....Our onboard wedding coordinator was Sonya who was the concierge manager. Our itinerary had us meeting with Sonya at 2pm on Saturday. As soon as we boarded (12:15pm) we immediately went to guest services and asked for her. She was there and took us to Sessions to go over everything. Sessions is where all concierge guests go to make their reservations. We made our Palo reservations and registered the children with the kids area. There were representatives there from the Spa so we also made all of those reservations. We went over all aspects of our renewal with her and were on our way to lunch by 1:15 or so. It was fabulous having everything done in one relaxful meeting. We're now spoiled and will have to book concierge from now on. :) We had special gifts in our room on a daily basis from concierge just as those do who are in the suites. So in a nutshell, you receive all of the amentities that the suites do. The only thing you won't be able to do (unless of course you are staying in a suite) will be to be the first to board when the other concierge guests board.

LTM....Have you contacted Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding department yet concerning the renewal? They are who handle booking the weddings/renewals onboard the cruises. There website is

Since we weren't traveling with anyone else I never inquired. In the planning kit that you receive there is a spot to link other guests names/stateroom numbers. The bottle of champagne would provide enough for a toast for everyone and the cake will definitely be large enough. The ceremony is in Sessions so space won't be a problem. Both of our children were part of our ceremony so your daughter definitely could participate. I'm sure adding guests to your photos wouldn't be a problem either.

Happy planning!

Thanks for that info. We are considering a wedding for my sister and a vow renewal for us. It's always nice to hear about other people's experiences.
