Me (wife), dh, and dd3 are doing a day at DHS. What would be a good restaurant that we would all enjoy?!?! It really doesn't matter to me if it's CS meals or sit down. We are not on any dining plan either but going to use our $300 promo gift card. Which one's have the best food? Which ones would be best or most entertaining to our dd. Vote for your favorites, you can vote for more than one!! We are down to our 10 day count down. I don't know which of these would require reservations but with our timing I probably won't have any time left to make reservations if any of these require it.

Thanks so much! I love the disboards!!!

I voted for 50's PT! I love the atmosphere there and I'm sure your family will too! The only thing is that reservations are highly recommended...but I would try for one anyway! If you don't get something, try a walk up...I feel like you might be able to get one.

Good luck :goodvibes

The best food? The Brown Derby, hands down. Really good food. I love the Cobb Salad.

Every other restaurant is just "eh", IMO. All the CS restaurants stink unless you like the standard Disney fare of turkey legs, yucky pizza, dry burgers and chicken strips. Mama Melrose is terrible with no redeeming value and Sci Fi is terrible with a great atmosphere and Prime Time is terrible with a good atmosphere and a good shtick. I have never been to H&V.

Your DD won't care where she eats. You might as well eat somewhere that is good.

I voted for 50's Prime Time for the experience, not the food. It's more of an attraction than a restaurant, and you should view it that way. I concur with the previous poster to an extent. There is no debate that the Brown Derby has the best food in the park. But I disagree with the last couple sentences. I think your daughter will care where she eats. She may not feel as comfortable at a place like the Brown Derby compared to a decidedly family environment elsewhere. Sci-Fi is another place with fun theme, but the food is too lackluster to recommend. I have never had a terrible meal at 50's Prime Time.

I strongly recommend avoiding all counter service at the Studios. There are no good choices. They are all terrible.

I voted Prime Time..Love the ambience and the food is not bad..the shakes are tops! We love trying to get each other in "trouble" elbows on table, hats on etc...until dad ends up sitting in the corner for being a tattle-tale! :)

I voted for PT b/c of the family atmosphere and home cooked food BUT MM is second in my book and a personal fave

I voted for the 50's Prime Time Cafe. We love both the atmosphere as well as the food. However I do not think you will be able to get an ADR at this point. I do not think that DHS has good CS at all. But if push came to shove we would eat at the Backlot Express.
Have you considered walking or boating to the Boardwalk to eat? It would be lots of fun for your daughter in the early evening. There are entertainers on the Boardwalk in the evening. The ESPN Club does not take ADR's so there is always the chance that you could eat there. It is a typical sports bar, so if that is what you expect in food, it is decent. There is also the Big River Grille which has outdoor seating on the Boardwalk. We have enjoyed dinner here in the past.
Good Luck

Try calling everyday before you leave and when you are there...People do cancel their ADR all the time and something may open up...We think 50s is best for families!

Side-Note: We dislike ABC greatly...We have been twice and never again...We cannot say it about many places, but this one we refuse to go back...Just our opinion.

I haven't gone gaga for any of the DHS restaurants. I liked the Sci-Fi lunch and experience better than those at the Prime Time. Frankly, we wrote DHS off as a dining option entirely after the second trip we took. It's our least favourite park and we don't hang around til dinner time. If we did, I suppose Brown Derby would be our choice.

We aren't huge fans of any DHS restaurants and usually head over to Beaches and Cream on our DHS day. That said, of the choices I would say SciFi has the best food.

Last time we were at 50's our waiter was really into the theming and when he tried to get my mom to eat her greens the little girls (probably 3 and 5) at the table next to us looked terrified. I don't think young ones "get" the joke and it can be intimidating.

No, I didn't know that the Boardwalk was that close or that we could even walk over to it!! :confused3 I am a Non-experienced Disney person. I've only been to MK 3 days in my life and the rest of the parks one day each!! Thanks for the tip, we will definately consider doing that!!!! How long would it take us to walk to the Boardwalk?

Prime Time for sure!!!! The wait to be seated - even with reservations - is awful but there is something on the menu for everyone. Of course, the servers are "attentive!"

I voted for Brown Derby - we have three boys (ages pre-school to pre-teen) and we were there for lunch last month. We should have tried BD years ago! The food was great, and this is Disney, so little ones are welcome almost anywhere. It was a great retreat from a very busy DHS that day.

We also like Mama Melrose for dinner. And while we don't enjoy the food at Pizza Planet, we have Toy Story fans who love the theme. We've also liked Sci-Fi, but only when we went for lunch and ordered burgers - not our favorite dinner place.

Have a great time!!

Prime time is an institution for our family. I love the fried chicken and pb&j shakes. Dh loves that huge brownie sundae! Plus it is such a kitschy cool place.

50s Prime Time - it's such a hoot! You and your family won't stop laughing!

Thanks for all your helpful information!!! I wouldn't have probably picked 50's PT without all your votes and helpfullness!!!!!

PS....I love my DISer friends!!: cheer2:
