Why do you lose the right to complain? I may not vote, I will still complain. Sorry, when people are offered actual CHOICES we may see a return to voting as it once was. Until then, it's more of the same regardless of who is in office.

Choices aren't always handed to you on a silver platter.. have to sift thru the chafe to decide what overall direction you'd like to see the country head towards...think baby steps toward eventual reform.

I am involved as a committee woman in local politics, the system certainly isn't perfect but, is a means for change/improvement if enough people only would make the effort to show up & vote.

If you let others decide the course...you may be taken for an unpleasant journey; hang on. Whether you decide to grin & bear it or complain the whole way, you will be taken for a ride.

While I certainly appreciate you involvement and idealism, I work in government relations in DC. I know how the system works. Sadly, it's broken. Neither group (and there are only two to choose from) is all that different from the other. Sure, on the face the issues seem rather divisive. However, step into conference on any bill and watch the real fun begin. Democrats and Republicans often shed their partisan bickering and do a little *wink* and *smile* while helping their friends (each other). Some things are rather contentious and neither side will budge - HOWEVER - the prime objective is re-election, not change, and certainly not a "better tomorrow for America." The "ride" I am along for will virtually be the same regardless of who is the Speaker of the House, Senate Pro Temp, and even, sadly, the President.

So, you; being "in the know" (and most of my family in Arlington) should certainly appreciate the "broken" government...since it is your bread & butter. Being in the trenches, up close & personal obviously gives you a unique perspective. Always good for the talking heads to stick them out into the real world though . Guess that's where the pollsters come in handy.

Life is a series of trade-off...you've got to go along to get along...surely cliches but, once you become jaded & give up; the battle is over.

Think most of the voting populace (even the hookies back in the district) are smart enough to realize that back-room politics is the standard method of operation; you've got to achieve your goals within whatever system is handed to you...then work upon reforms.

If you've conceded defeat, perhaps it's time to find a different field of work? fight the good fight.
