Family fest to fete man behind Goofy
Bill Farmer to receive Friz Award

The 16th International Family Film Festival will honor Bill Farmer -- voice actor behind Disney's Goofy, Pluto and hundreds of other characters -- with its Friz Award for excellence in animation.
Farmer will be feted March 20, when the five-day festival wraps with its annual awards ceremony at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood.

Farmer was a stand-up comedian and impressionist before moving to Hollywood, where his first audition was for the role of Goofy -- whom he's portrayed since 1986.

He fashioned his Goofy voice after Pinto Colvig, the former circus clown and musician who originated Goofy's laugh in 1932.

Farmer's credits include "A Goofy Movie," "Horton Hears a Who!," "Robot Chicken," "Casper: A Spirited Beginning" and "Space Jam," in which he voiced the Warner characters Yosemite Sam and Foghorn Leghorn.
