VMK Moderation Views on how it is going now....

Do post your interaction with and observations to moderation in VMK as of late.



I for one have noticed an increase in bannings but I have also noticed an increase in bad behavior and of the two reports I have made in the last 30 days I received very canned responses not the response I had hoped for with the "New" moderation promises.


Reported a player in pirates for dictionary dancing bad language and was told that the report button was for emergencies. I then replied that was not what Yavn had said in his latest newsletter and received another response of use the ignore button.

Then I reported a couple of players for harassing me and some friends in their rooms over and over every few minutes for the last three days every time we are in our own rooms and received the response for me to leave the room


I have only made these two reports and these were the responses I received, not the ones I had hoped for, but there you go.

I would love to hear from members also who have received better responses to their reports.

Personally i've had no problems at all with reporting players for use of bad language. In my report I usually say, ".. I have used the Ignore button, but I feel this bad language should be seen to". In my response they always say along the lines of, "Thank you, your report will be looked at right away".

So the Moderation is still working, I guess in some situations there is a more urgent need than others.

I too reported a player in pirates on sat. night
i simply said 'player using bad words and very mean actions'
i did not even attempt to describe in anyway what this player was saying
among other very bad words he was saying "ban me, report me and then a string of expletives.!! others in the room were saying "i think he stole the account, he is trying to hard to get banned!!'

I got the response back that they can check all chat and would look into it.

I have made 2 reports over the last couple of weeks. Right now I can't remember what the first one was but got a good response saying they were going to look into it and thank you for reporting it. The other one was the other day in the HM while I was waiting for Gus to pop up. 3 people are on the bottom floor in there. They are talking about stealing from the cuboards and I'm like whatever that is just stupid BUT then one of the girls says how there was a car in it and steals it. Walks towards the other 2 she is with and says she is running them over with the car and they are dead. I get the response after reporting about using the ignore button. I don't really see things getting better with weeding out the bad in the game IMO and don't see how I could notice banning being up or down but with the behavior the way it is I can't imagine it being up. Again MO.

i rarely report but i did the other day bc i was scammed by 30 pieces of ride pieces and i had reported that and my message back was "if you do not like the way the player is talking please use the ignore button" i cant remember word for word but you know what im getting at and yet to this day i have no idea what ignoring the player would do since he already got my items and deleted me from friends list

I should add that it was a one week IP ban and they reversed it within 2 hours.

I haven't played VMK much since the moderation changes because I've been temporaily preoccupied with some things, so I can't really comment on rude things that people are saying and things like that, but just from reading the Disboards, it seems (at least to me) that there has been an increase in scammings since the moderation changes were made. I may be wrong, but I don't remember nearly as many scam threads before.

**Yep, agreed. I was banned for 10 years (now removed) for making a trade in my ride room. Staff said they "thought" that I was trying to make people pay to ride. Um, they must not have read the transcript before they hit ban.

As to the amount of bans listed on the "I've been banned" thread, I think some of it if not a lot of it is made up. A lot of first-time posters coming out of the woodwork telling about how they have been banned unfairly with the same writing style, some mispelled words, same shortcuts and similar stories leaves me skeptical.

Overall, I think VMK is doing a little to weed out the bad players, but still lacks overall.

I like that they are releasing items again to help cut-down on scamming. I think, and hope, that at some point all items like Stitch, green flips, Minnie, etc will be available again.

My daughter was playing cute or boot today and the owner told ppl they had to pay to stay in the game. My daughter reported it and got the message back that she can be banned for making a false report.

Last week, I was playing pirates and a boy came out in the lobby after the game "cussing" up a storm and calling people inappropriate names. I reported him and got a message that "call for help" is for emergencies only.

Also last week, my daughter was playing pirates and a player was dictionary dancing like nobody's business, she reported and got the message back that "call for help" is for emergencies only.

I have sent two email inquires, both answered by VMK_Shorty (who I have determined has no idea how to read) about some issues and the response was to use the ignore button.

There are still boys and girls rooms in the most popular list, people are still dictionary dancing, the same generic (canned) responses are being sent out and we have no flying carpet magic!! Oops, how did that last part get in there.

I do see some changes, but only in spurts.

I have reported only twice in the past two weeks, both for extremely rude behavior. I did get the 'we will look into this' message, but I believe even that is just a canned response. I also think some mods are more inclined to take care of the rude players over other mods, who can't seem to be bothered with actually doing their jobs.
I have seen a lot of innappropriate room titles at the top of the popular rooms list. I no longer report them, I've yet to see one closed because of a report.
All in all, I've seen no improvements in moderation.

I don't know if I already reported this, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself. I was in Emporium when a boy and a girl were talking and she said something about being in High School. Before I could even hit report they both just disappeared ... in mid-sentance. I assumed they had been banned

Over all I don't know if moderation has changed that much. I still see plenty of people saying inappropriate things. They really need to check out people's signatures as some are plain disgusting. I really wouldn't care if they did away with it all together.

I am seriously anticipating the kids being back at school .. of course this doesn't apply to all the young people, but there are way too many kids on vmk who seem to have nothing better to do than cause trouble.

Luckily, I haven't had to do any reporting lately. But I have heard different opinions on the subject. Some say the moderation is improving, but some say it is more unbalanced. I can't take a side until I actually have to report somebody.

I reported someone a few weeks ago after a pirates game where she called me a bench - Now I knew what she meant and just reported that she was titling me a bad word using dictionary dancing. I got the response back that I should not use the report button for false reporting and that I could be banned for making false reports.

There have been changes to moderation? Really. Hmmmm. Hadn't noticed. Last time I logged in, to help out a DISer who had been scammed no less, it took about five minutes for someone to start berating me and being nasty to me. I reported it and absolutely nothing happened.

I so hope that when school starts, these bored kids will have other things to do than to cause trouble in VMK. Maybe then, it will be enjoyable again. As of right now, I have little or no interest other than I miss my friends.

Doesn't matter, though. I think the writing's pretty clear on the wall that VMK will be going away. I give it a year, tops.

They are constantly making very crude and vulgar statements and then chase after other players in the room making those same crude and vulgar statements towards them. I have repeatedly reported them (have never yet gotten a response) and have "called for help" to the room (no one ever came). Obviously nothing has happened as I still frequently see them doing the same thing.

I honestly did not even noticed that they had changed it already, I have been waiting and waiting for it to happen.

In fact lately I have noticed more rude pirate players than ever before, I do what I can but I doubt that anything is done.

Hi everyone
I have noticed many new staff moderators in game. I hope they get over their newbie training and start acting on our reports soon. In the last month VMK has added 4 or 5 new staff. Yay! Its a start, may not seem like much but it is better than it was.. I hope.
And yes the kids are getting bored with their summer vacation and some of the kids behavior in VMK has been obnoxious (sp?), rude, and vulgar to say the least. And with VMK's advertising on the home page about them not doing anything about trades once you click accept, it only makes sense that kids would intentionally try to scam others, since VMK itself said it would do nothing. Why VMK, why?
If you report and u get a message that does not make any sense keep in mind that their replies back are usually already programed responses " click ignore", "false reporting will get you ban", etc Sometimes humans make mistakes and hit the wrong key. With a few new staff getting used to report responses it is to be expected that they too will make mistakes.

I might agree if I wasn't hearing about these "mistakes" on a regular basis for quite some time now. If I repeatedly made the same mistakes over and over again at my job, I'd be fired.

I believe I know who you are talking about because I have reported them over and over. It's a little frustrating.

HOWEVER!! I actually have a good thing to report! Well I guess it's good lol. Yesterday I had a clone in Central Plaza, waiting for me to come trade with him. This girl was doing the "welcome to vmk" bit and was saying she works to keep vmk a safe place. A guy came up and asked her if she was staff or a citizen. She said "I work with VMK to keep it a safe and happy place." I told her as my clone that she is a citizen and it is against the rules to pretend to work for vmk and that it is absolutely ok to do your part to keep vmk safe, but you need to tell people you are only another friendly VMK person. I told the guy what to look for in a staff person as well. I reported the girl because she said she knew she could get in trouble but it was ok because she was helping people I immediately get a message back about "thanks for reporting. the matter has been addressed" or something to that effect (a rare message, I know). Next thing I know, VMK_Fusion walks in the room and tells the girl that she is not allowed to pretend to be staff and that she can be banned for it. She kept saying "omg i'm so scared, sorry!" However, she knew the potential consequences and ignored them. She was not banned because Fusion left soon after.

My thoughts: It's nice to see a staff person respond so quickly. However, notice that it was someone pretending to be staff (cough doing the job the actual staff should do). When I report for someone being beyond vulgar or telling me that she hopes "my children are dead soon" (happened two days ago, I was practically in tears), I get the "press ignore button" message ... In my mind, one positive experience cannot make up for all the many times we've desperately need staff to come.
