Vivendi Universal vs Disny Corp is one weathering this storm better?

There are no traffic problems at 2AM which is when HHN lets out.

As for Annual Passes there tons of them sold for the other parks in Orlando, they offer the locals generous more practical benefits at the parks and Citywalk, on merchandise as well as food, and hotels. I'm not saying that Disney's pass doesn't have plenty of discounts, it's just that they're not practical to people that don't have any reason to stay at the hotels, and there are virtually no discounts on merch in the parks themselves plus Disney is out of the way for most locals who just want togo out to eat or hang out for a couple of hours.

Kotar, I believe That 46,000 would cause reasonable delays exiting the park AT WDW. That's about half the capacity of MK and all of that has to by design funnel out to the ferries and monorails, then down a single albeit wide highway.Again, even Disney's AP is designed differently. (for better or worse.)

And from personal perspecive having lived most of my life in the chicago suburbs. If the resturant and meal were right, I could be counted on to make an event of going to a resturant that could be 20 miles away or more on a single night and somewhat spur of the moment.

That may simply be a function of living in such a large Metro area, but I would think WDW isn't SO far away as to make it unreasonable.

Just a thought from Car#1.. If HHN is such the money maker that is claimed then why has WDW not really matched it over the years. With WDW in existence longer than UO, you would think that they would try to steal the customer by offering a HHN like (better than currently offered). Especially with Ei$$ner's (spelled just for LB's sake, it is not a trend) hunger for money.

Maybe, WDW does not need to offer an HHN as they attract guests for longer stays so one night given to UO is no big deal.

Anyone's thoughts on this idea.

I agree if it were a special ocassion that it wouldn't be too far away that but that would apply to any restraunt that made a great impression on you that . But just for going out to eat for a more casual type meal, followed by just hanging out for a couple of hours maybe shopping, catching a movie, going to a night club, or a stroll down by the waterway towards the hotels. Universal's convenience can't be beat. You just park and everything is all there.

My point is Disney seems to not be really concerned with locals, so why should we spend our money there or show them any allegiance? Univesal and other entertainment complexes in the area are more than happy to have us and our money. While I know that Disney's bread and butter is tourists they are missing out on alot of money by not welcoming us as much as the others do.

I think at this point that Disney realizes they are out of their league when it comes to Halloween and scaring people, just as Universal knows better than to try to out do Disney in the X-Mas department.

Part of the reason for no HHN type of event at Disney is that they are more tourist oriented, kid friendly( which HHN is clearly not, also add the fact it'd be kinda hard to pull it off at MK (once again cause of the kids) Epcot is too spread out, also a clash of themes. AK is off limits cause of the animals( although imo it has the potential to be very scary) Universal has the rights to almost all horror films and their characters. So really MGM is the only park that it could be held in, MGM which is a kind of small park and has mostly shows in it, (except for ToT, RR, and Star Tours), 3 rides are not enough to have other stuff to do for 5-7 hours, also it'd be kinda hard to have anywhere for haunted houses since most if not all their sound stages are being used by WWTBAM. I know of a couple of spots that would be great for Haunted Houses and scare zones.

All in all it would be on a much smaller scale then USF, and Disney would rather not have it at all, rather than look bad.

I don't think we can look at AK and MGM as they exist today and make a fair evaluation on whether or not they would stand on their own. The fact is, both Epcot and MK existed when MGM was built and three parks existed when AK was built. Both AK and MGM were built to complement the other parks. Decisions were made about attractions keeping in mind the attractions that already existed at the other parks. Who knows what attractions AK might have had if MK didn't already exist?

BTW I never have agreed with Universal moving their whole creative team to Orlando. To have them live here, or anyplace else that they might be creating something, part-time is 1 thing, but to force a group of talented people, (most of whom objected in the first place) to permanately uproot themselves and their families, I think would kind of slow down some creative process on their part.
