Which is nicer? I have stayed at Village before and was very happy. We are returning to Florida soon and I found a great rate at the Resort. From the boards I know that you need to be careful what section you are in at the Resort. My fear is that a big discount will mean a less appealing accommodation.

Anyway, assuming I did not get stuck with an older unit, which is the nicer place for children? We have a six year old girl and a twelve year old boy so I want it to be fun for them.

Thanks for the opinions. :)

My daughter and I just got back from Vistana resort and it was just wonderful. We had a 2-bedroom villa and it was just beautiful. I have never been to Vistana Villages, so I can't compare. Also, the location was soooo convenient. It takes about 10 minutes or less to enter Disney World and is very easy access. There are a lot of pools (7) and they are very nice and unlike the Village, there are a lot of restaurants on the property. We were staying in the Cascades section, which is a newer section and it looked brand new to me. There were no signs of any wear and tear. I had made my request for this section on their website at Diamond Lane Checkin. I wrote that I would like to stay in the Cascades section and if not possible, then the Fountains (which is newer as well).

When I checked in at the Diamond Lane Aisle at 1:00, they registered me and said my villa wasn't ready but to come back in an hour to the key pickup Aisle. I asked if she knew what section I was in and she said she didn't have the room number yet, but that she saw that I requested Cascades and they try to honor requests. So, that's where they put us. I came back at 2:00 and they handed me my keys.

I have heard that the 2nd bedroom at Cascades is a little smaller than the other sections, but it was fine with me. It has two double beds, a nice size closet and and a pretty armoire with the TV and drawer space. Well, there were only 2 of us so we had plenty of room, but 2-4 more people would have fit comfortably.

If you have any other questions, let me know. But, I thought it was a great value. I couldn't believe we had this gorgeous place without paying $300 a night. Even the other sections looked very nice even if they weren't as new. The foilage was a little more overgrown at the older sections and I really like that.

Actually, I'm doing the reverse. I stayed at Vistana Resort in March and was very pleased. 2-bedroom unit w/full kitchen. Lots of pools. I'm staying at Vistana Village in December and would like to know how well appointed it will be. We only need a 1 bedroom unit this time around. Can you tell me what you thought of it? It's still a Gold Crown Resort so I'm not too worried, but I am very curious.

They are both pretty resorts. I've been to Vistana Resort (stayed in Lakes - very nice) and the Villages gets excellent reviews regularly. There is a lot more to do at the Resort, since it's larger with more variety of everything. For the person asking about a 1BR at the Villages, do a search of these boards, using "Vistana Villages" and look for info on the 1BR units. I recall reading that some 1BRs were much larger with better amenities than other 1BRs. Perhaps you can learn how to make certain you get one of the nicer ones.

Could i ask where you are renting from and how $$$. We are dvc members but need an extra place for dec. thanks
