Has hotelkingdom stopped offering Vistana Village and Vistana Resort on their site? I have always booked my stays there through them and I checked for two different dates in August and December and neither one mentioned that resort. Have I missed something?

I can only answer about the Vistana Villages. Yes - they stopped offering this property last year because their prices were "too high" as I was told by someone at HK. I stayed there for $109. per night in April '02 (post 9/11 rate).

Being that the Vistana Resort is their sister resort, I'd assume this one is not offered by HK anymore either.

Unfortunately, HK was the best way to get to the Vistanas but now that option is gone.

I am at the Resort right now. It is unbelievable. So nice that my son wanted to stay HERE today, a holiday, rather than go to the parks. THAT is a first!

I got my deal at www.tug2.net Check the classified and the owner referrals. You might find a deal!

RobinS

We're coming to the VV in 2 weeks time - booked through Virgin Atlantic in the UK.

Is there anything going on there that we should be aware of???

Tell me its as good as the pictures .......... please!!

First trip to Florida so really looking forward to it.

sandshal - I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I just wanted to tell you that you will LOVE the Vistana Villages!

We would definitely return for a stay there and the pictures are right on, very upscale, meticulously kept and beautifully landscaped. Excellent location.

I do think that RobinRS is presently staying at the Vistana RESORT not the Villages...

Have a great trip!

Hi,sandshal:
Yes, I'm at the Vistana Resort.

I have heard NOTHING but good things about the Villages as Lorix agrees, and the Resort is beautiful also. I'm sure you will love it as much as I do!

Wow! That is disappointing...I can't Hotelkingdom considered it too expensive. We always felt like we were getting an incredible bargain. Vistana Village is absolutely beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone.

Robinrs, thanks for the link!

Yes, I'm at the Vistana Resort.
Hi Robinrs !
So spill it ! Details ! You and I had a couple posts back and forth about Vistana (the main resort). So tell me......which section were you placed in ? Villa # (if u don't mind). Hoping you got what you requested. Hope you're having a blast. I'll be there in August :bounce:

Hi, Maria! I posted on my thread about the Resort. I cannot tell you how much we love this place!! It's wonderful, cozy and has everything!

I'm going to venture by the Villages tomorrow. I'm having a hard time visualizing how much better they are since I love the Resort but I'm sure they're great!

My guess is that hotelkingdom stopped offering them due to Starwood's low price guarantee. I have dealt with the woman who controls rates for Starwood's villas. They keep very tight control over what other suppliers can charge due to their price guarantee. I managed to snap up a property on Expedia which was considerably below the amount Starwood wanted (less thna 50% for Xmas to New Year's at Avon/Beaver Creek). I then booked it on Starwood and they matched it and took off another 10%. A day later, Expedia's prices were raised to match Starwood's. Later, I spoke with the woman who controls the prices for the vacation rentals (she was extremely nice and added a couple of nights for me). I felt a little guilty about getting teh property for such a low price during the holiday season. She explained that Expedia would be paying for the mistake due to charging less that what they were supposed to be charging pursuant to Expedia's agreement with Starwood. Since hotelkingdom cannot offer the Starwood properties for much less than what is offered on Starwood's site due to Starwood's low price guarantee, it probably isn't worth them carrying the property. Suppliers like Priceline and Hotwire can still offer Starwood properties for much less because Starwood does not match prices for "opaque" suppliers.
