Is it okay to visit, say, Roaring Forks at the WL or The Mara At AKL if you just want to? This is something our family has always done, but am unsure if this is permissible at this time. Usually we just inform the guard at the guardhouse of our intent to eat at a resort's quick service establishment and they wave us on through. Will that work right now?

I know it's fine if you do it via Disney transportation (bus, boat, monorail), but I have not tried it via car.

Due to limited capacity driving to resorts now requires a resort or dining reservation. If you are using Disney transportation they haven't questioned.

FYI OP, you were probably just using it as an example... but just in case you don’t know, The Mara is not open at the moment.

Thanks for the responses!

Yeah, I plan on actually investigating what's open and what's not. This trip just happened today! I have been completely out of the Disney loop since our April trip was cancelled. I really know nothing at this point except that parks close early, no fastpasses (is that right?), no fireworks, lots of restaurants aren't open. Time to do my research and it started with this question! I did not actually know about Mara being closed...

Ha, well, you have a bit to figure out. :-)

Ask away, lots of people around here to help.

FWIW, Disney’s site is actually pretty decent in terms of all the info, but you have to spend some time clicking around: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/experience-updates/

The bottom of that page has links to other more detailed pages for dining and resorts that have the latest of what’s open.

FWIW, Geyser Point is open, so you’re good there (as long as you arrive via Disney transportation).

And you’re correct, no FPs.

Happy planning!

You have your park reservations already, right? Some days are hard to get now.
