Visiting IOA with a group that doesn't like HP or aren't allowed to read or watch HP?

This May, I get to visit IOA with my choral group. But we will be assigned to pre-determined groups and I know several people in my Choral class whose religious faith prohibits them from reading/watching HP, or that just hate Harry altogether. I, on the other hand, am a Potter nut. Ever since I heard about the opening of the WWoHP I have been keen on going, and now my chance has finally risen before me. But since we have to stick with our groups and etc., if I get stuck with a bunch of people who either can't have anything to do with HP or hate HP, I have no idea what I'll do!

Do you have any tips on how to handle this? I may never get the chance to visit the WWoHP for a long while, so this may be my only chance.

Please help!

talk to your choir director and ask to be placed in a group that is interested in checking out parry hotter.

Since that group will either need to go through it to get from Seuss to Jurassic (and are they allowed to go through there (Jurassic Park) if they aren't allowed HP? my stepdad is against HP and has some issues with dinosaurs as well, so I can relate to how you might be feeling, if they are that strict) OR go allllll the way around, they can just stand and wait for you to be done with the land.

Or just make sure the person in charge knows that there's a group that should be placed together (or just not placed with those of you who will be partaking in the HP rides/shops/food), because otherwise some part of the group will be mighty unhappy!

I agree, the person in charge of putting the groups together NEEDS to know about this issue. They almost need to pass out a form with things like Dinosaurs and HP on them and if people do not want to be involved in these themes, they need to check a box or something. Then the person in charge can go through all the papers and put everybody that wants knowing to do with these themes together.

I know if I was going to the parks in a group and a person in my group did not want to do HP, I would not be happy. Come to the class early or stay late (assuming it is a class) and inform the teacher in private about some peoples views on HP and I am sure the teacher will understand and come up with the best way to get all the HP fans together and the non-HP fans together so everybody can do what they want without feeling like they are putting a damper on everybody elses fun.

one would think but I would suggest the OP use their better judgement on this situation. without starting a debate on religions & rules, requesting a way to see HP could start a big battle. there was mention by the OP that there are religious beliefs of some that would prohibit seeing HP. this may or may not be the view of the instructor/chaperone. this may be the belief of the school that the chorus group is from, possibly tied to a church.

looking to do something against the grain of a religious institution could potentially start a big battle between student, teachers, administration and other parents.

OP, i feel your pain and hopefully i am over-reading the situation but if there is a chance of this situation snowballing, you may just want to suck it up and miss out on HP. I have seen similar scenarios explode into battles of epic and ridiculous proportions, only to have school/church trips cancelled.

I don't know how old you are, or if your parents will be there with you, but is staying an extra day an option for you?

Our chorus is the school chorus. We don't have any religious connections whatsoever (We do sing SOME songs that have a spiritual feeling, but other than that, no religious connections). I know the majority is of people who hate HP, and there are a few there who can't do HP because of religion.

My mother is third on the list of being called to chaperone. If she goes than my brother and Dad will be going (Well, my brother and Dad are going anyways because my brother would get extremely upset if he missed out on IOA, and my trip gives him a chance to go).

I think if I DO get landed with either a Potter-hater OR someone with the religious problem, we'll just ask them to wait in Seuss landing or Jurassic park (They don't have a problem with these). I only joined the class this year, and last year I had many friends who did this trip and visited the WWoHP telling me it was amazing. I might get in a group with them. I don't know yet. But I really want to try to visit the WWoHP. It would be really big for me!

Probably not. We have never been to Universal before. And Where would we stay, especially since I have to be on a bus back home after the park closes! Unless, of course, my Dad does end up coming, then he'd be able to drive us home.
