Visiting Disneyland on weekday or weekend in June?

We are planning our first family trip to Disneyland and Southern California and trying to plan our itinerary for likely a nine day trip. We want to spend 2 to 2 1/2 days in Disneyland with our kids, ages 9 and 6. I've seen conflicting information about best days to visit. I know it will be crowded no matter when we go, but have heard on weekends season pass holders are blocked in and it's better then than weekday during summer? Is this true or should we avoid the weekend? We are planning to arrive in California on 6/17 and want to visit Legoland, San Diego, and maybe LA is time permits. Thanks for any tips/guidance with planning!

I go to Disney every year in June. Igo on the same dates each year, some years I am there on a week day, some years I am there on a weekend. Honestly in June, each day is pretty much the same. It gets very crowded and hot and you just gotta go with it.

The good thing about June is that the park is open until midnight.

My plan of action is to get there as early as I can. I stay off site so I dont have access to the early opening but I usually get there around 9am.
Between 9am and 12pm, the crowds are low and if you plan cleverly you can get alot done. The crowds start to build around 1pm. I usually either park hop to California Adventures or go for lunch in the afternoon. Some people take a break and go back to their hotel.

The crowds will be big until after the fireworks at 9.30pm. Many people leave after the fireworks but if you can stay, then the ride wait lines are very short.

Another trick is that while the park closes at midnight, the shops on Main Street stay open until 1am.

As for the black out days on annual passes. You wont really notice a difference crowd level wise. This is because Disney use black out days to control crowd numbers. They know they will have peak capacity so they stop the annual passes holders coming to the park on those days.
