For those who live in New Jersey, I went to Character Warehouse today, and they only carry Disneyland and Universal merchandise. There were sweatshirts, mugs, bags, t-shirts, posters, etc. all set up on tables.

They are only open until September 14, and I was told they get new merchandise in everyday. Some of the things had dates on them from 2001, but I was really dissappointed not to see any from Disney World merchandise.

When did that open? Wasn't there last time we visited, but its been a couple of months. There was a store like that a few years ago at Franklin Mills in Phila. It actually isn't run by Disney (obviously, if they have Universal merchandise). It is run by a liquidation company that is hired by Disney to sell off stock. We got some great deals that time around. They travel around the country and set up shop for a few months at a time. We'll definitely have to take a trek up to Elizabeth and check it out. Where in the mall is it?

Did they have any pins? I'm looking to stock up before we leave on Friday.

Thanks for the heads up! I am always looking for affordable Disney stuff.

Did they have any pins?

The warehouse is located across from DSW Shoe Warehouse, on the main floor, not the bottom floor.

Yes, they had some pins, but they were all Disneyland. Each was a different % off of the original price. I picked up a few at 80% off. There was one country pin from World Showcase-Norway, but all the others were Disneyland.

The store just opened sometime last month, and is only going to be there for two months, closing Sept. 14. It must be run by a liquidation company. The Jersey Gardens Mall is open 7 days a week too incase you guys were wondering!

Thank you! I have been waiting for this to open again (I'm supposedly on their mailing list, but obviously they didn't email me). I went a ton of times last time they were there in 2000 and got some great buys. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend!:bounce:

Annie&Hallie'sMom,

So, 1111.16 miles north of WDW sounds like you're my next door neighbor! Have fun at the Warehouse this weekend!

Yup, I'm in the North NJ neighbor hood. Did you go to the warehouse in 2000? If so, do you think this one is better or worse? What goodies did you walk away with?

No, I never went to the warehouse in 2000, so I have nothing to compare it to.

All the merchandise was set up on tables and grouped by clothing; sweatshirts, tees, hats, or paper supplies, bags and mugs. Any pins were by the counter where you check out.

I really didn't bother to check out the Universal merchandise since I'm not a big fan of Universal, but there was a large variety of clothing and such from Disneyland and California Adventure. I had really hoped to see some WDW merchandise though. Did they have any in 2000? Maybe they send all the Florida stuff to California.

The last time I went to the character wharehouse at Jersey Gardens therewas lots of Disneyland stuff there as well. Not much WDW. We visited the one in San Diego when we were there and they had the same stuff. Some was 20% some was 80% most was somewher in between.Maybe because of all the outlets in Florida that stuff is easier to unload the DL.
Oh well I'd like to visit it anyway you never know what you might find.
PS I was on their mailing list also and didn't receive notification.I also emailed Jersey Gardens in the spring to see if Disney was coming there this year and they said they had no idea. Funny huh?

Make sure you tell them this! We had signed up both last year and at the one in 2000 and never got notified. Apparently they sent discount postcards to people on the mailing lists and we never got one. They gave us the discount anyways (10%). They've got a new company managing their mailing lists because the old one did such a poor job. So re-sign up!

I will DEFINITELY tell them that I am annoyed that they didn't contact me as I did sign up in 2000.

Back then it was mostly DL stuff too, though no Universal. They were there May supposedly through June, but I understand they actually stayed longer. I spent a fortune there back then because they had such great deals. DH bought tons of t-shirts (which he worse to work) and Sweatshirts with DL attractions on them (Splash, It's a Small, Big Thunder). I know I bought a bunch of pins to trade when I got to WDW later that year.

I will definitely be visiting them tomorrow (before noon, the mall gets majorly congested).

Wow - I just got back. I spent $104. I got 2 T-shirts, 1 sweatshirt, about 15 pins, 1 hardcover, 1 softcover book, magnet, 1 pen and several other items. I'm hoping to talk DH into going back tomorrow (he would be interested in all the T-2 stuff they have).

Where exactly is Jersey Gardens? Can anyone give me directions from the Parkway or Turnpike - whichever it is closest to?

Take the turnpike (if you're up North you will go South past Newark Airport) (If you're South it will be TP North before Newark Airport) to exit 13A. After the toll booth follow sign for Jersey Gardens Blvd. It's pretty much a straight run from there but the signs are good.

I was also on their mailing list from 2000 and didn't get notified:( .
Guess where I will be tonight!! Thanks for posting!

Once you get off the Turnpike, you can't miss it. There are signs every where. Sounds like the store is going to be quite busy this weekend! ;)
