Hello  I did a search for this but I didnot get answer to question.
I have been given Visa gift cards and I need to know, does Disney accept these? and if so where? I am really on a budget and would really like to use these for my upcoming trip but I don't want to get there and be surprised that they don't take them. Any help is greatly appreciated :cheer2:

My husband and I went to DL in March and since we don't have credit cards we were trying to find a way to save on carrying so much cash. Our credit union was offering the Visa gift cards and we were told they are accepted everywhere Visa is accepted. It turned out to work great for us. At DL we used it at gift shops, counter service, and table service. We also used it at gas stations, stores, and Universal Studios. So I'm pretty sure it should work the same for you. To be on the safe side you can always call the customer service number on the gift card and see what they say about where it is accepted and you could call WDW. Also when a cashier hands you the receipt to sign (many cashiers don't even realize it is a gift card) simply state it's a gift card, you don't have to sign. Hope everything work out for you.

Above poster is correct - treat it just like a regular VISA card - it will be accepted anywhere VISA is taken. On the backside of the card should be a toll-free number or website so that you can check your remaining balance on the card if you need to. One word of caution - and this may not apply to you at all - but we were given American Express Gift Cards & used them like credit cards. We didn't check the balance, and just kept using the card - we never got declined because we had reached the card limit. A few weeks later we get an invoice from Amex for the overage PLUS fees and interest for the amount above & beyond the designated card amount. I couldn't believe it - you'd think the card would just be declined when you reach the card limit. This may only apply to Amex, not VISA, but it wouldn't hurt to check your remaining balance on the card. Can anyone else confirm/deny what happens to the VISA Gift card once it reaches it's limit?

when it comes to the VISA gift card it will be declined when its reached its limit. When I worked as a cashier I would see them alot. Lets say you want to charge $25 to the card but theres only $20 left on it, it will be declined. It won't even take whats left, it will just be flat out declined if theres not exactly enough to cover the amount. If you want to use a remainder you need to know how much is left on the card and then 99% of the time a place can charge just that amount to the card and then you pay the remainder some other way.

I'm going to disney in 2 weeks for my birthday and my boyfriend and i are getting both our birthday gifts and christmas gifts combined as money for the trip. We asked that we get either VISA gift cards or the VISA travelers card (which is almost the same thing with a little extra protection just like a travelers check)

If anyone has any other questions about using a VISA gift card feel free to ask :)

:thanks: for the replies and thanks for the heads up on how the card actually works. Greatly appreciated
