visa debit cards

For our upcoming trip, we wanted to give our kids pre-loaded cards for money to spend. We were originally thinking Disney debit type cards but now leaning toward a Visa debit card. Will they be able to use this type of card anywhere...stores, snack stands, etc..? Thanks!

Just wondering why you would pick the visa debit over the disney gift card? Either one would work for most places on Disney property. The only place a visa would be better is if you go off property. I've never seen a food cart take either card. They aren't set up for it. If you plan to stay exclusively at Disney, the Disney card is much cuter and you can pick a different character for each person so they don't get mixed up. We always use them and have never been sorry we did,

For me, one potential drawback for putting the money on a disney debit card would be if you had to cancel your trip for some reason (medical emergency, death in the family, hurricane). When I got closer to my trip in February this year, my father was very ill, and I didn't know if I'd be able to go (or if I might be called home suddenly).

Lots of folks seem to put all of their spending money on Disney gift cards. We're talking hundreds and hundreds of dollars! You just never know, something unexpected might come up. I'd sure hate to have my money tied up!

But OP, I think if it's a small amount of spending money for your kids, you'd probably be fine.
