Virtual Queue Questions + DAS

I just read that the new Mickey and Minnie ride will have a virtual queue. We've never used this before so I have a few questions.

When you get an alert saying it's your time to ride - what happens if you're back at the hotel swimming? Or eating lunch?

Also, how does virtual queue work when you use DAS for returns times?

Typically with the VQ you can return anytime during the day after your number is called. You don’t have to return within the hour as the app says. With DAS, you still need a VQ but once you are called you see the cast member handling das/rider switch and they will send you through the $LL lane.

It will put you on a boarding group. And you can check thru the day what group is currently boarding to calculate when your time will come. If I remember correctly from RotR, you will have an hour (same as a normal LL) to join the line.

They usually don’t enforce the hour return. It’s usually return anytime after your group is called. It was like this for rotr and web slingers before VQ went away and it’s currently like that at Epcot for guardians.

Thanks! Being tied to that 1-hour window is tricky for us.

Is the actual wait in line really long for these rides that use virtual queue? I'm nervous about that as our son can't handle super long lines (hence the use of DAS.)

They are anywhere from walk on to about an hour. It can sometimes be longer than an hour though if the ride has had down time during the day.

I wouldn't personally risk being turned away just because they haven't enforced it yet. It's up to each person to risk it.

Like someone said, if you have a DAS AND a virtual queue time, then they will send you through the ILL line. You will still need to sign up for the virtual queue. I'm guessing the wait time with a DAS will be 15-20 minutes max, but I'm just guessing.

Just a note, this ride does have a preshow room. It’s not clear how much more queue there will be beyond the preshow as the merge usually happens before the preshow.

IF it is a mirror of the one at WDW, the queue isn't too long after the preshow and the line seems like it is constantly moving.

I’m not expecting it to a mirror. WDW’s queue is weird because it’s mostly the old great movie ride queue except for the little bit beyond the preshow.

Our first park day is February 5th. I'm worried we won't even get to ride it at all. Not sure when we'll be back so that will be a bummer but I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks for all the info.
