I have just booked three PE seats for 5-19 April and the cost was £4750 for Premium Economy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We finally got cold feet and booked as waiting for the prices to go down was getting worrying.

I called on Friday evening and got an Indian call centre. This was a complete nightmare and an utter waste of time. The guy was useless, he got the dates wrong - twice and got the class wrong three times and then he came up with £1872 for PE. I told him what was on the web and he said 'You'd be better of booking on the web then as I cannot offer those prices.' Total rubbish.

I waited until the morning (7am on a Saturday!!) as I was worried that all of the seats would have already been allocated. Spoke to a lovely girl who booked the seats and reserved the seating we wanted. I also got them at £1572 (something like that).

The reason of this mail is to tell anybody waiting for the prices to come down with Virgin that they won't as they're nearly sold out and they will not be doing fare structures (the Virgin rep told me this), so unfortunately I'm stuck with fully flexible, changeable and refundable tickets wen I cannot change the tickets as my sister is a teacher, so has to go then.

It's worked out that these two weeks are more expensive them Christmas as over Christmas you can go any day but for these two weeks everybody wants to fly out on the same day. It really upsets me to pay twice as much for my tickets than we did over Christmas and NY. But when you have a teacher in the family you're stuck.

Anyway two weeks at Old Key West will go down well!!

Let the diet begin:banana:

:scared1: What a nightmare that was for you.:scared1: Glad its sorted out now. :thumbsup2
When things like this happen it can be a little of putting and then you think twice about using them again.
We had been lucky when we booked & had a lovely lady in the uk call centre that could'nt do enough for us over the phone. :woohoo:
We rang again last week to book a hotel at Gatwick got a different lady and she was just as lovely as the last. :woohoo: :woohoo:
Sometimes it seem to be pot luck where you call gets diverted :confused3

Why fly Virgin at such a high price?

3 adults could go same dates for £1600 using UA! OK via Washington but only add 3 hrs to Journey. Then you have £3000 extra spending money!

I know, but I just do not like flying via somewhere. I like to get on a plane and get straight there. I used to get Panic Attacks and one of the things that stressed me out was airport terminals and getting on and off planes (crowds).

These seem to have gone now but I don't want to put myself in a situation where they could come back. Think I'm more scared of them coming back than the actual attacks themselves!

United do not have PE seats, only Economy or buisness
Buisness on those dates with united are £3,707.80 each!
Plus you have to pay for your alcoholic drinks.
Seats are 31-32" VS is 32"

On those dates United with the extra three hours (if the flight is not delayed and you make the next connecting flight are £540.80

Virgin direct are £833.80 each so the difference is £293 each.

(If they could go 8th April return 21st april the price is £533.80 with VS)

But as the OP wants to fly PE this is not really relavent

Fair point. I guess I don't value PE on an eight hour flight. But you're right, I was comparing apples with pears!

Good point about the connection..... Not sure what happens if I miss it!!

The Americans are very good, they will put you on the next available flight with space at no charge.

Thanks for that information. I was worried that it would be my liability!! That would have added to my cost!

Even so, I still run the risk of disruption to my plans if there are delays!

But.. we are so looking forward to going but have to wait 11 months!!!

Judging by the number of flights that are filling up I think that Disney will have lots of Brits on holiday for these dates. I have set up my counter on the DVC site and it's 311 days, 10 hours and 57 minutes until my next vacation!
