Virgin Holidays Price Increases!!!

I was trying to get a quote from VH for our fingers crossed upcoming trip in November. I could not believe my eyes VH would only charge us to stay at PORR 4 adults and 1 child, instead of 2 adults and 3 children. At 1029 is not only expensive for an adult, but wanting to charge families a whopping 1029 for a 4 year old I could not believe it.

Since when has VH done this. We have always booked 2 adults and 3 children and have received many quotes in the past. I seriously doubt that any Disney hotel room would fit 4 adults comfortably. You would want your own privacy. Talk about a rip off. Sorry for the rant, but I am extremely annoyed with this. If this is how VH will continue to price up thier holidays then its a from us!!!!

Looks like a BA flight only for us if we go!!!

Being as the website asked for the ages of the children I am guessing there is a coding error and for some reason it is coming up as 4 adults in the rpices as on the top bar it does say 2 adults and 3 children. Best bet is to ring or email them to query this as they may not know there is a fault with the system. Yes all Disney resorts will take 4 adults if there are two double beds, as a minimum, it can be cramped but alot of people do do it especially if only for a few nights.

I agree with Claire I think the website has had technical problems, I would definitely ring them for a cost breakdown for your chosen dates etc Keeping my fingers crossed that you get this sorted out quickly Keep us posted

Did you phone them and ask them to quote for what you want (i.e. 3 adults and 2 children) or did you try to explain the problem as you did above?

Yes, if your explanation was like the original post in this thread, then it was probably a little "overly complex". It is good to report the fault, BUT it can be very difficult to communicate the nature of the fault over the phone... At the end of the day it is easier to just phone reservations and start again

I suspect the people in the call centre will have no clue about the website they are there just to book holidays on their system. I agree with Boo call back and get a quote from fresh or use the 'contact us' link on the website to inform them of the problem, at least once they know then the website techies can get it sorted.

angel659 DID report it to the techies... unfortunately these things are not easy to explain and sounds as though they got confused... non-techies explaining technical problems to techies is not always easy, especially on the phone...

I remember when I booked my holiday, I couldnt do it through the website as it didnt seem to accept my VISA Electron card. I phoned and queried it and, sure enough, the guy confirmed that they dont accept that form of payment.

I told him that I would get my dad to phone with his card details (I just paid him it the next day), and the guy asked me for details of the quote from the website. I gave him all the info, and he came back and said 'yep, thats correct, thats the price I have coming up on the website as well', so it looks like the call centre can access the website info...

According to the VH website it is not actually managed by them but by a company called Zolv so probably only they would be able to change the coding of the website and would know exactly what to do.

Quick thought how old are yor kids?? I've just looked at a brochure(you should get a copy of a new one) for Virgin and not including flight supps and taxes I only get £2765 but hey I might be wrong

OMG Just been to the website and did a general pricing 2 adults 3 kids 4yrs 6yrs and 8 yra and POR for 2 weeks from 1st Nov and it came up £4047.50 includin flight supps transfers etc but no mention of park tickets, I did notice the adult prices have really increased too maybe First Choice or someone can give you a better deal??!!Perhaps Carol can help here??

My kids on travel will be 4,4, and 7. I think we might be booking a fly drive with VH instead or hold out for some cheaper flight tickets. It worked out cheaper for us to do it this way. I will be talking to dh later so we can book the hotel. Cant wait. Apparently there are some rooms in ASMo so we might return there just to keep the costs down.

We had a similar prob last year when we booked for this July. We have 3 kids (I know, I know, must be bloody mad) anyway, when I eventually got the website booking system to accept this at POR, because it was 3 kids, not 2, it spilled over into 2 rooms and therfore 2 of the 3 kids were then classed as adults, so it would have been 4 adults and 1 kiddy wink. I had to telephone and book in the end, but they still allowed me the full internet discounts.

I think it happens because when it spills over to 2 rooms the second room would be occupied by kids only and I dont think that is allowed, so they make 2 of them adults. It works the same when we tried to book a cruise round the med 3 years back and ended up with a quote of 8 grand for a 10 day cruise round the med. Needless to say, we didnt book.

Anyway, I am rambling, we finally booked last July for this July 2 ad, 3 kids at POR for 21 night 4050.00

You could wait until Easter or May bank holiday and ask again ... they might have a special offer rate or something which might bring the price down a bit more into your budget That said it's probably still cheaper than some other tour operators/travel agents will charge, hope you get your dream trip

Just wait till your kids are classed as adults then it really does get expensive, believe me.

We booked for November and from your prices must have got a good deal, even with our 3nd child being classed as an adult in some of the pricing (12 year old) We booked in July.

I will never use the website for buying as my quoye on the website was £500 dearer than the actual cost i got online.
