I have 26,000 Virgin flying club miles and my wife 13,000, are these much use?

I have never bothered before, but am starting to think that I am being silly not using them.

Any made use of theirs?

Look at this thread I started a few days ago. 2000 miles will get you upto 50% off some flights at the moment, we have booked LHR-LAX Oct Half term for £375, normal price was £650 ish. Easter school hols next year MAN-MCO £291 instead of £550.

As WayneG says, just using 2,000 of them under the "Miles Plus Money" scheme can save you quite a bit.

They are very useful. We spend every penny on Virgin Credit card, and pay the fee to get 2 per £ spent. Doing this we can get 2 free return flights a year to Orlando.

As mentioned above, you can also do miles plus money, or upgrade your ticket using them.

I have just ordered the black card.

So do the points just get added on? I have 26,000 miles already - will these new points just get put onto there?

Also I will not be flying for about 2 years, will my flights still be good then, or do you have to use them within a time limit?

The card and 26,000 miles is in my name, will I be able to get my wife a ticket also with the accumalated points?

Sorry about the questions, seems too good to be true, as I can easily make the required points every year - and I will get free flights!!

Yes. Any new points (including the 10k for the first spend on the black card) will be added to your current total.

There is a time limit and I think it's about 4 years. I know that mine currently expire in 2009 but as long I use at least some of the points the date when they expire is moved into the future.

Yes, you can buy tickets for others using the points. My card is in my name but I can use the points to get discounts for my DW an children.

Hope this helps :)

Very useful :thumbsup2 We've booked a trip to St Lucia next Easter hols for around half the price just by using 2,000 miles each. Of course, you don't accrue miles on a booking made using miles + money but it still works out to be a good deal. Just be aware tho' that if you're looking for a busy time (eg school hols) you need to be on the ball and book on the day that the booking window opens. By the time we got around to booking on that day the return flights in economy were all gone - what a shame we have to come back premium economy :cheer2: By the way, that's another useful way to 'spend' your miles - upgrading to PE.
