VINYLMATION--Does WDW mail order have a better selection of sets than DisneyStore.Com

I am needing some help with the vinylmation. Our Dd just recently discovered these on the Cruise and at WDW after and bought a few while we were there. We wanted to surprise her with a tray/set of these for Christmas and I got all excited when the Disneystore sent an email with their 20% off and free shipping. I was ready to just buy one of the sets they have listed on their site when I checked the details and noticed that collectibles were not included in the sale.

You do get the free shipping but not the 20% off---I should have known that collectibles would be excluded. Now that I'm thinking about it I guess you at least get the free shipping but I can't seem to remember what sets were offered in the parks? It doesn't seem like they have very many on the disneystore site and I was just wondering if I called the mail order number if I would have access to other sets or does anyone know if the ones listed on the site are all that are currently out right now?? Of course I wouldn't get free shipping from the mail order----does anyone know what the shipping would be on a box of these from WDW?

I know on the disney site you can't get a whole blind box set ---it says that even if you order from that set individually that there is no gaurantee that the next pick will come from the same box and you may end up with duplicates. For this reason we want to get a set where we know all that are included but was also wondering if someone could clear up how the sets work?

We didn't really have alot of time to shop these while at the parks and didn't think to ask about how the sets work but from what I'm getting on the disney store site if you order a set you get 24 in total in a sealed tray. What I don't get is it says 2 sets of 10---so are both of these sets of 10 the exact same design and you then have extras to trade????--- then it says you get one chaser and 3 random designs----are these different then too??

Sorry for all the ???'s but I want to know what we are getting before we order and I'm pretty sure that we won't be able to get a sale on any of these before Xmas---do they ever go on sale???

Was just wondering if there are any additional sets we would have access to through WDW mail order and if the parks would also have any 9" vinylmations that are different than online---I am thinking we saw different ones of these at the parks and we want to get 1 of these for DD for xmas too but cant remember what we would have to select from---there isn't a big selection of these on the site

My daughter is a vinyl collector. Vinyls don't really go on sale too often.

If you buy a box, you get two sets and one chaser. The two sets will be the same thing. If you are interested, my dd has the complete toy story set to sell, but no chaser, and several of the park 5s. She would give you a fair deal and you would get no duplicates.

The reason why she has the toy story set is that she wanted to make sure she got them all, and now she either wants to sell the rest or she will keep them to trade later.

The park 5s she also bought the whole tray, but some of extras she has already sold.

The only potential problem is that she had to open the boxes to see what they were. Other than that, they have not been touched.

I love these things! Quite addictive. We got the first park set and I knew we had stop then! I LOVE the pool table set and got DS a pool table for Christmas. I would love to have them setting on it Christmas morning.

What the above poster said about the trays is correct. We did it that way and found it simplest to make sure we had the set then. I would love the TS set but not sure I could justify a want right now.

Do you have a Disney Store locally? Some of the stores carry Vinylmation and they have the Toy Story ones. If you go on Black Friday everything will be 20% off for a set amount of time. My store is open at midnight and the extra 20% runs until 10am.

We do have sealed boxes but very few and they have opened ones if you are willing to take the risk .

I don't think they will ship Vinylmations through mail order. At least the LE ones.

The site Vinylnation.net has pictures of every tin, 9 inch and set that has come out and some pictures of future sets.

I really want to buy one of the whole sets because of the surprise factor of her not knowing what she is opening but the price is really making us reconsider. Besides the fact we won't be back to WDW to trade before a few years so she would have all of the extras and wouldn't be able to trade for others she may want.

She does love the Toy Story ones but if would be without the fun of a chaser and any extras---I just wish they would sell one full set for a lesser price. We don't have a Disney Store in our town but one about 40 min away---I may call them but can't see driving there and the gas it defeats the purpose.

Anyone have any ideas about how we could present an opened set if we were to get one from a collector?? Of course the boxes are all opened and the foil taken off to reveal the character inside---that was our thinking with a brand new full set---of not knowing what was in each box Oh Well, there is a big price difference too so I guess it comes down to that.

Lots of Vinylmations for sale on Ebay if you want a specific one. The chasers and older ones go for a lot, but current ones are not too bad. On Vinylnation.net there is a trade/sale board and people are fair on there as well. You may be able to pick up 1 set. You need 15 posts I think before you can post on that board.
